(10,877 posts)I remember watching the first Saturday night live and I was in high school. And I have enjoyed it over the years. But most the bands or musical groups I hear in the seasons I have no idea who they are.

(15,160 posts)And I watch it now and again still. The writing is often crappy. Unfunny. But every once in a while I still laugh.
The musical acts are often beyond weird. Tuneless singers with lousy whispy voices. I don't get it.
Lizzo was AWESOME though!

(86,809 posts)In my area the NPR stations cover a lot of area in several states so each program goes a long way. Apparently there are enough old dead heads to warrant a Friday night "Dead" show so it was put on at 10pm. A large number of listeners complained that it was on after they went to bed! So they moved it up to 8 or 9pm!
Gotta love it.

(32,729 posts)I wake up in the wee hours. Might leave an hour before sunrise to go fishing. Even then I hit a deer a few hours before the street lights came on. In my 70s to and that's another thing to consider when trying t stay safe.
I did work nights for 30 years. Got fired 3 times.

are a few outstanding moments like Trump and Marsha Blackburn impressions that are so brilliant. I much prefer it now that they pre record some skits. It means they can do much more. Didn't like the rainbow doll thing. Their "inappropriate behaviour" skits make me cringe.

(4,673 posts)my parents would learn something from their subscription to Newsweek that had to do with young people and want to talk to me about it. Id roll my eyes and tell them that was so yesterday.
You know youre old when you get excited you recognize a person on the cover of People when in the check-out line.

(1,295 posts)There have been some occasional funny sketches since then (especially Tina Fey's Sarah Palin), but not whole episodes that I thought were consistently as funny.

(8,827 posts)Our parents hated that Zeppelin, Stones and Cream we listened to. And probably hated Carlin, so our time is over. Time to move on gracefully. This is the younguns SNL. Lawrence Welk has a show playin somewhere on Sinclair owned locals on the 300 plus channels our dishes and cables have. If they get on my Lawn it will be hard for them to not step in dog shit. I leave out there for those young punks that attempt to get on my lawn.

(641 posts)Do you not remember The Carmichael Show? Likely cancelled as handled current events to-a-T. David Alan Grier played his Dad, Lil Rel his brother, Tiffany Haddish his SIL, Amber Stevens West his GF? I'd venture to guess I am older than the OP!!

(10,476 posts)...that is a sign to start paying attention to current pop culture. You don't want to be your parents, shaking a fist at clouds, starting every comment with "X hasn't been good since Y and Z." it's decrepit, old, and kinda lame, tbh (that's one of those fancy acronyms, "to be honest" .
No one's expecting you to be a fan of Gunna, or get a Billie Eilish tattoo. But stay relevant and connected to the current world.

(118,816 posts)by the aspect of my TV that had the Trump character half on my TV screen on the right. I was trying to figure out if I could fix it. And I have a one track mind. Don't know what the aspect of my TV changed a few weeks ago. I can no longer see the score during Raptors basketball games either. For the first month I had this 2nd hand TV the aspect was perfect. Now when I try to fix the aspect it won't render back to a good fit.
