From here on, russia will go its own way, without worrying about the fate of the West, relying on another part of its legacy: leadership in the global process of decolonization.

As part of this process, russia has high potential for partnership and alliance relations with countries that the West has oppressed for centuries and are not about to put on its yoke again.

They were extreme-right white supremacists (if they weren't neo-Nazis, they were still in that political neighborhood) who formed a group of armed volunteers in 2014 to fight Russian-backed separatists in Donetsk and Luhansk. They were effective enough that the Ukrainian government played nice with them and eventually even made them part of the regular army (although after they did that, it really toned down the rhetoric of its founders).

However, it's one-point-something percent of the Ukraine military, its backers who tried to go into politics lost pretty badly, and doesn't really have any influence beyond being "the guys who helped plug a hole when we really needed it."

But all it takes for shameless propagandists is some grain of truth to disguise a mountain of bullshit. Witness our own Bullshit Mountain, FOX News.

Putin won’t stop at Ukraine so we are going to need to confront him at some point so better to do it now than later when American lives maybe in jeopardy. That oped is terrifying. It lays the foundation for the justification for complete genocide of the Ukrainian people under the banner of “denazification”. Russians aren’t trying to hide their intention to eliminate the country of Ukraine. The op says a separate Ukrainian country is not sustainable. This is pure psycho babble. Putin has lost his mind.
