Thanks Manchin! Voters who benefitted from Biden's expanded child tax credit now lean Republican

15 point net swing towards the Republicans

https://news.yahoo.com/voters-benefitted-bidens-expanded-child-155034998.html

Voters who benefitted from the expanded child tax credit in 2021 only leaned Democrat as long as the cash kept flowing, a Morning Consult/Politico survey released Wednesday found. Every two months, voters were asked "if they were more likely to vote for the Democratic candidate or the Republican candidate if the election for Congress in their district were held today."

In December, the generic Democrat beat the generic Republican 49-37 among child tax credit (CTC) recipients. By February, that lead had dropped to 44-43 — within the margin of error. By April, the generic Republican had pulled ahead, beating the generic Democrat 46-43. Among all voters, the parties remain tied at 43 percent, though a separate Morning Consult/Politico poll from last month showed that Republicans have a significant advantage in voter enthusiasm.

The American Rescue Plan, which President Biden signed on March 11, 2021, increased the child tax credit from $2,000 per child to $3,000 per child over the age of six and $3,600 per child under the age of six. It also distributed the tax credit in the form of direct monthly payments to parents. One study found that the expanded CTC kept over three million children per month above the poverty line.

Extending the CTC expansion was a key part of Biden's Build Back Better plan. After the bill failed to pass, the expansion expired at the end of 2021.

There is a position which is obvious, moderate, and dead wrong.

Democrats to the right of the Party's center can find that sweet spot every time.

Just . . . what is that date? People getting slapped with a nice palm print shaped reminder right before the midterms? And if it gets extended again, people will say it's a political ploy for midterms. Either way.

I was just discussing the moratorium with a friend in his 40s. It's alleviating $800 a month in payments. He's been using it to catch up on things and actually put money into retirement. That's another thing these "HELP DADDY" and "bootstraps" assholes don't understand. When you're doling out these hefty payments well into your 30s and 40s, you're not putting nearly enough away for retirement. Mix in we have no idea what social security will look like by then. Do they care? Hell no. Got theirs.

It just blows my mind. $800/month for loans to get a pharmacy degree. I know my partner, also a pharmacist, has similar payments every month. He's continued on because he just wants them gone.

You'd think these bootstrapped daddy helpers would like pharmacists. Someone's gotta hand them all those medications in old age.

This friend has a law degree, but even as a partner in a firm, he lives a lower middle class lifestyle. Has to because he and his wife are paying $5K a month in order to get out from under their loans quickly (5 years). Not to mention, partners in law firms pay for their own health insurance, which is another $1500 a month.

Part of the reason these loan balances are so high are the predatory tactics that lenders used to manipulate young people into kicking the can down the road. Consolidations plus exorbitant interest rates compounding over time

Point is, the student loan disaster hits people all across the board. Helping people pay off these loans will allow people to start motivating our economy. How for example can anyone saddled with these loans even think about starting a business?

I haven't said he can do that. You've created an answer to a question not being asked and a claim not being asserted.

How to say, "Don't care, got mine," without saying it.

Mainly because it's already been said dozens of times on this forum.

Other people, however, do care about the President's promises and the economic hardship imposed on young people through predatory lending that cannot be discharged through bankruptcy and other means thanks to a financial bill he lead the way in passing when he was senator for a state heavily invested in the financial services industry.

On this, he he has a moral duty.

The care by some of a certain cohort for the economic hardship imposed by a broken, predatory system is overwhelming. Duly noted.

There is no logic behind any American who is earning less that $200,000 a year voting for a Republican.

This isn't about logic or rationality, it's about the power of populist propaganda. They swallow it hook line and sinker because it "feels good" to be "in on" the shared fantasy that Democrats and Liberals are destroying the country, yadda yadda yadda.

Trump learned from Putin, and Putin is learning from Trump. How to manipulate the pawns in order to one day seize ultimate power.

This is not some random 'vote as many times as you can' or 'anyone can respond" poll.

I have not seen a claim like you just made in ages. Probably back in the primary section.
