Only three repuQs voted for her - none of whom represent states in the defeated confederacy.

All the Democrats voted yes; all the Republicans voted no. Geography had nothing to do with it.

This has nothing to do with North/South. There are plenty of Republicans from the Midwest and West who voted NO.

None of the three Republicans who voted for her were from former Confederate states: Collins, Murkowski, Romney.

There ARE some Democratic Senators from former Confederate states, and all of those voted in favor:

Tim Kaine from Virginia
Jon Ossoff from Georgia
Mark Warner from Virginia
Raphael Warnock from Georgia

There were 11 Confederate states, so out of 22 Senators, only 4 voted in her favor. It's shameful. I can't figure out why one of my own so-called Senators, Burr, would vote no. He is retiring and would not face any backlash from voters. And why in the world would Tim Scott from SC vote no? Ugh. These people are just craven and political. I wish this would come back to haunt them, but I doubt it.

They had a perfect opportunity to show that they're not monsters. KBJ's appointment to the Court will not change the Liberal/Conservative composition of the Court. There was no reason for them to act like total assholes.

I will also note that Sinema and Manchin voted for confirmation. Even THEY aren't monstrous enough to oppose her confirmation.

[.... there are plenty of States not located in the south who's Republican politicians voted the exact same way. There is no justification for your accusation that states in the south are Confederate States. Despite the South's flaws, which they share with many states in the Union whether they are located in the east, west, south, north, or central part of the United States, emphasis on most people, understand that the Civil War ended long ago and the Confederate States of America no longer exist.

EDIT: A bit of a snarky reply. Apologies.
How about this. From one Democrat to another, please stop referring to our homes as Confederate States. That would be a good start. Plenty of right-wingers down here, but the ground we walk on doesn't make any distinction as to who is doing the walking. That's why I wouldn't live anywhere else but the South.

.... and now reside in Louisiana. I do not live in a confederate state. I live in a state that is now part of the United States of America. Despite some non Southern, and some Southern DU members attempts to perpetuate the Civil War using language such as in the OP, there are millions of Democrats in the south working to change the hearts and minds of of the people who have been corrupted by the most corrupt organization known. The Republican Party, Non-southerners, and some Southerners, need to tuck their sense of moral superiority away somewhere in the deep dark corner of the mind from which it originated. What is good for the Democratic party is everyone, South, North, East, and West to help uplift and to support Democrats, especially those who need it most. The red states, which some people may not be aware, are not exclusive to the South. Instead of perpetuating the dark cloud of the Civil War, why not work with us instead of against us?
