If you've read or seen "Slavery by Another Name," you know there was an exception.

I grew up in Alexandria in the 50s. You’ll be shocked to hear I wasn’t told a thing about this location in school. 🙄

The "other part" of the 13th Amendment is the foundation of the prison industrial complex.

Under the 13th Amendment, people cannot simply be enslaved. It is necessary to find something for which to arrest and convict them. THEN they can be enslaved.
