Le Pen has urged withdrawal from NATO and praises Brexit. If she defeats Macron in what appears to be a tightening election, the entire balance of power will shift in Europe -- toward Putin.

Almost all the French in my age cohort that I speak to hate him (he is far too right for most), they just hate Nazi-ette Le Pen more.
Even some of the older French people I know are far from motivated enough.

(41,132 posts)more actively after these recent polls came out. Step on the gas.. I know that his centrist positions and background in finance and banking turn off some on the Left. But the alternative is a nightmare. A win for Le Pen's nationalism would clearly be a major feat for fascism and Pootin. I can't imagine..

It is impossible to try and place a US template over France. The nation is not nearly so under the corporate rapacious, rentier capitalist whiphand as the US is.
If you snapped your fingers and made the ACA (let alone the Rethug dystopian nightmare option of 'fuck it, sunk or swim and we are praying you sink') the healthcare law of the land there, you would have nationwide general strikes and riots for weeks, likely longer. Same here in Sweden and many other EU nations.
IF MLP nightmarishly, disastrously, somehow wins, the lion's share of the blame goes to Macron and the neoliberal centre right/more right.
