My suspicion is that it was the FBI. There were an awful lot of undercover agents and paid informants involved in the case and apparently some of them started having legal troubles. But I know the government was trying to keep a lot of that from coming out in court, so I'm not sure how much the jury heard.

As a non judicial person I could see that there would be an entrapment problem from the beginning. The defendants didn't make a real move on their own. Much as I don't like the idea of what they were planning I think I would have a problem convicting them of much. There was too much FBI interference. So what happens to the guys who pled guilty and are in jail now?

I see common sense posts.
I've heard rumors of entrapment, but I don't know the extent of what went on.
I agree that it's a shame they can't be convicted for doing what they were doing, but if the FBI was guilty of breaking the law in order to get the charges, that cannot be excused, ever. And if it's true, I hope those individuals are held accountable as well.
It sounds like the blame here belongs to the FBI, not the jury (who are chosen with the agreement of the prosecutors and defense).

Some of the charges were unanimously rejected by the jury. That's a failure of the prosecution and the evidence.
