Kremlin spokesman says Ukraine operation could end 'in foreseeable future'

Russia’s so-called special operation in Ukraine could end in the “foreseeable future,” as its goals are being reached, a Kremlin spokesperson said Friday.

“The operation continues; the goals are being achieved. Substantive work is being carried out both through the military in terms of advancing the operation, and through the [peace] negotiators who are in the negotiation process with Ukrainian counterparts,” Dmitry Peskov told reporters, according to multiple outlets.

Asked about the timeline for such a completion, Peskov said, “We are talking about the foreseeable future.”

It is unclear how many Russian troops have died in the fighting,
though the Pentagon has put out a conservative estimate of 7,000.

Zelensky said they would not surrender one square inch of Ukrainian territory, that Russia had to withdraw ALL of their troops. The only thing I heard was that he was considering becoming a neutral country, but something had to be ratified by his voters. Why does Russia get anything at all out of their unjustified, vicious WAR?

Russia's history with weaker states shows that they do not leave once they're in there. Didn't they formally annex Crimea? Didn't they formally recognize the Donbas states? So, they think they are going to walk away with that? Why have they started bombing Odesa? Does that look like they're done? I think they are blowing smoke up Putin's ass with these comments.

EU came along and offered a quickie route to joining that group. I hope they get in there. I hope that Sweden and Finland join NATO. I hope that Poland keeps garrisoning the 10,000 US troops that showed up there, and I sure hope that we give flying lessons to Ukrainian pilots for our best jets.

And, and, the sanctions stay in place. Give back the children you stole, Russia, and all the thousands of hostages you took. You bombed hospitals, schools, apartment buildings, infrastructure, murdered thousands of innocent people, and for what?

Go to hell, Peskov.
