Centre Party says it will support potential Finnish Nato bid
The Centre Party council, meeting in Vaasa on Saturday, said it would support a Finnish Nato bid.
The party said it would support the Finnish leadership in a changed security environment, thereby granting its government ministers the authority to prepare any potential bid to join the military alliance.
Centre Party chair and Finance Minister Annika Saarikko on Saturday asked for her party's support ahead of a possible Finnish Nato bid.
The Centre Party has traditionally supported military non-alignment. However, since Russia's invasion of Ukraine, opinion surveys have suggested that many Centre Party members support Finland joining Nato.
