GOP Chair of the Hampton Roads, VA Electoral Board Used "N-Word," Suggested Lynchings

https://bluevirginia.us/2022/04/gop-chair-of-the-hampton-roads-electoral-board-has-called-two-well-decorated-american-military-men-the-n-word-suggested-their-lynchings

"David Dietrich, GOP Chair of the Hampton Roads Electoral Board has called two well decorated American Military men “the N-word” & suggested their lynchings. This “man” felt perfectly free to say this crap out loud.

The truth is, no matter how excellent or patriotic African Americans are, no matter how educated, how successful, how rich, how kind, or how much service we render, for some people, it just doesn’t matter. In fact, our success makes them hate us harder.

And this man is charged with overseeing fair elections?"

and he’s refused so they’re trying other ways to get rid of him. Even they can smell the stink of this racist pig.

And his GOP colleagues probably expressed the same sentiments.

Why it took them until now to protest, well, I can only guess.

The closer we get to the midterms, the more GQPers are seeming to wake up to the fact that most Americans outside their 'holler' are repulsed by their stances. And they're shocked - shocked! I tell you! - that racism, propaganda and abuse of power are becoming liabilities for their political careers outside of their immediate electorate.

15. What the VA GOP is really saying....

I grew up in the south, immersed in such garbage, so what they're really saying is "don't say that out loud!" The putrid ideology never went away. It's just not cool to say it publicly anymore, even in the south, but, most Republicans subscribe to it in varying degrees. Nation wide it seems. It's as much a part of their theology as cutting taxes.

At least in the south, it's taught from a young age like protestant, evangelical religion. My upbringing was different than some of my peers in that racism and intolerance based on anything other than personal character wasn't tolerated in our house, but we were a bit of a minority. I have dad's upbringing and his Irish roots along with his experiences in WWII to thank for that, so we've come to believe.

9. Tl;dr - he feels the same about Black people as his ancestors did. No change whatsoever.

The belief that Americans were progressing beyond racism turns out to be another false myth that Americans believe about ourselves.

In truth, we aren't a nation of rugged individualists. We're a nation founded on genocide and slavery. We made up myths to feel better about our actions, but the myths are lies.

If we don't wake up, we will slide into authoritarianism and dictatorship. We will lose it all.

The sentiment doesn't surprise me one bit. Saying it out loud is unusual in this supposed modern age. This is exactly the human garbage we're dealing with.

It is so much easier to hate when they can believe black people are inferior. Success, education, and intelligence is an even greater threat. Now who can they look down on to make themselves feel superior?

Dietrich should be immediately ousted. Make no mistake--this is what the Republican Party has devolved into and is perfectly happy to support and/or make excuses for until the heat gets turned up.

This is the Republican Party.
