I agree with you that the Ukrainian people have proven themselves to be fierce patriots defending their country. The Russian loses have been devastating.

I think they could be inflated, though, since they're coming from the Ukraine military. Regardless, Putin has screwed up royally and that makes him even more dangerous to the region.

I suspect that they are highly inflated, but nevertheless any Russian personal or equipment taken out of service is a good thing.

If the Russian torture, murder, and rape of Ukrainian soldiers, civilians, and children is to be stopped, those figures will need to be five- or ten-fold higher, and soon. Even that might not do it.

with what they've been given. WOW!

I hate to think of what will be happening in the near future if Putin actually sends mercenaries in. I hope he is just trying to scare everyone. However, if he has the money....

...who say that Russia must be completely defeated in UKR in order for war to stop. Otherwise, Russia will keep invading. No ceasefires will do. Russia will violate any and all ceasefires. They must be driven out BY FORCE.

We should not be surprised if UKR starts bombing Russian supply lines inside Russia to weaken an already weak resolve by the Russian military to keep fighting.

Predictions of a renewed Russian surge in the east should have started up by now. They WILL surge. And they WILL incur heavy losses, over and over. Military elites are still willing to throw conscripts into the meat grinder. The loss of 19k+ soldiers is the kind of squandering of human resources that only a saddistic sociopath like Putin can endure. Still, Putin's inner circle is terrified of Putin's power. Putin will NEVER relent. He'll keep on killing until he is physically stopped. He will never concede defeat, even though he doesn't have unlimited human fodder.

Are there no "CONSEQUENCES" for this terrible mistake?

but sorry, grain of salt.

20K troops is horrendous - it's 5x what Coalition forces lost in the entire Iraq invasion and occupation. Almost 6x what the Afghanistan coalition forces lost in 20 years.

If true, I can only imagine Ukraine's military losses are similar, plus the civilian costs.

Senseless.
