I agree. Credit where it's due. He seems to be genuinely stepping up to the plate. Crunchy Frog Apr 2022 #10

Wish Macron would do the same thing instead of like, you know, entirely sacrifice his moral fortitude AND lose an election. At least Johnson may be doing the right thing, somewhat, even if for the wrong reasons.

here, he's doing something that is right and decent.

Didn't think he had it in him. Glad to be wrong.

The people I follow in the UK don’t like him but they aren’t conservative. He may be speaking out but him and his party have had Russia links.

Britain is one of Putin's fiercest critics. Its politicians still get millions in Russia-linked cash.

Boris Johnson was warned of Lebedev security concerns, says Cummings

Dominic Cummings has said he was present when Boris Johnson was told of security concerns about his plan to award a peerage to Evgeny Lebedev.

The ex-adviser said he was "in the room" when the PM was told intelligence officials had "serious reservations" about giving the honour to the Russian-born businessman.

If Boris Johnson was hoping for an easy ride in his first week as foreign secretary he was sorely mistaken.

After his appointment last Wednesday, the former London mayor has faced crises in Nice and Turkey and was booed in his first public outing.

And, yesterday, he faced American journalists who were keen to grill him on previous comments that had seen him question Barack Obama’s Kenyan heritage and liken Hillary Clinton to Lady Macbeth and a ‘sadistic nurse in a mental hospital’.

It’s fair to say that things got pretty awkward as Boris squirmed under intense questioning, while stood next to US Secretary of State John Kerry, who had earlier tried to put a positive spin on things.
