A dog was running around an apartment complex in Bucha. A Ukrainian soldier took her in and is now looking for her family. This is the Ukrainian military as opposed to rapists and looters from Russia who shoot and eat dogs

This is Yukki. We were looking for him for a long time, but we couldnt find him anywhere, the children cry about him all the time. We cant help our tears now that we found him, the happy owners wrote. 2/3

"We were leaving under fire with 3 small children, barely left. Yukki was frightened by the shots, got scared and ran away. We, neighbours and friends, were looking for him but couldn't find."3/3

(16,254 posts)I saw one photo of a dog sitting next to a body and bike. I would assume the body had been its master. Dogs are so loyal, they would do what they thought right.
The pets have to be confused about what happened to their former owners/comforts and what all the horrible surroundings mean.

(6,536 posts)that showed the cat laying on the backs of a soldier's legs as he (or she) practiced shooting. Poor thing reacted with every shot, but I think that cat knew where it belonged. That video, I think is over in the Lounge.

(19,565 posts)Those poor pups. I've seen so many sad photos with a lost puppy in the frame. They often weren't the focus of the shot, but their presence wasn't lost on me. They've been on my mind.
Off topic moment:
What is up wit Ukraine cats?! Photo after photo of people walking through bombed out rubble carrying their beloved kitties in their arms. The sweet kitties are placid and not in anyway freaking out. My cat would literally be on my head yeowling her Siamese heart out while subsequently filleting my scalp every so often just to make sure I know how displeased she is with this horrific turn of events. Ukrainian cats are the chillest cats I've ever seen.

(6,536 posts)I noticed that, too! The country of Ukraine has been quite surprising, including their cats!

(19,565 posts)Watching them I keep feeling inadequate. Even their cats are badasses.

(31,413 posts)...some of the photos we see of soldiers with cats aren't recent. So much stress overall is enervating.
