(130,956 posts)she disagreed with part of his assertion, and Wallace clearly missed a fair amount of history. It did take President Truman finally to desegregate the armed forces.

(61,622 posts)It seems Chris Wallace can't accept the fact that people "stormed the beaches" to defend democracy then came home and lynched Black people, voted to suppress Black people's rights, etc.
Golly, Chris, did you ever hear of the Southern Strategy? Who do you think planned and implemented it?
How old were the people who tortured and murdered Emmet Till, Chris? Oops, they were 20-30 year olds.

(9,893 posts)so difficult for many people to get beyond black & white thinking. Pun not intended, I don't know how else to put it. White people are [fill in the blank], black people are [fill in the blank]. Those are good guys, they couldn't do anything bad. Those are bad guys, they couldn't do anything good. With a very few exceptions, there are no good guys or bad guys, there are just guys with varying degrees of goodness or badness depending on the circumstances.
