Many of the public discussions we hear about, about NATO countries debating whether to send/not-send certain weapons are purely designed to 1) test Russian reactions & 2) distract from what is actually happening behind the scenes.

But *čъlgati strikes me as some Polish Slavist's goal to have published *something* by age 30, albeit a 10-line squib about the reconstruction of a Polish word based entirely on, um, Polish.

Yeah, and given that degree if liberty I can reconstruct Proto-Germanic for "twerk". Maybe even PIE, and then say it was a borrowing from the languages spoken in Europe and build a theory about sex rites ...


Still, "czołg" is a useful, even if unexpected, polskie word.
