When Barack Obama announced in 2007, I thought: "No way. It will be another twenty years before we have a black President." My pessimism proved unfounded, and we had a glorious new page in American History. Right now, we have a woman of color as Vice President. Having a gay President is probably not as far off as it might seem.

I started a post saying we should groom Sec Pete hard for the next 2 years in case something happens with Joe and we need a hot back-up to run for POTUS. With all the anti-LGBT stuff going on around the country, a President Pete would be the most awesome thing I can think of. I get giddy just thinking about it.

But, alas, my post was hidden by a jury as a "right wing talking point'. I know you said "some day", so you're suggesting that Pete not be a Joe replacement. But some of the comments in my thread before it got hidden slammed Pete as inexperienced and "wooden" - in addition to the heresy of thinking about a contingency if Joe can't run.

Fuck the haters here. Pete, Beto and Stacy Abrams are the only Democratic figures with the national creds to run in '24 if Joe can't, and in '26 when Joe terms out. We have to start bolstering their creds NOW and be ready. Republicans are still pushing Trump for another run, plus the asshole from Florida. Neither of these is even remotely acceptable.

he's a keeper.

He comes across "conservative" in his style and demeanor, yet he is unabashed out and proud about his sexuality / family structure.

Love the guy and

LOVE JOE FOR PICKING HIM!!

to go into ANY debate with ANY RepubliQan - you name the RepubliQan of your choice - he'd just kick their A$$ from one end of the stage to the other - and not even break a sweat!

What a brilliant man - we are fortunate to have him.

They think they are so clever, but they are passing laws which will make discussion your family and your partner impossible. Because the way they are wording these laws, to make them semi-constitutional, applies equally to heterosexual relationships.

One of my friends taught second grade. One of her little girls always had kitty pictures in her notebook. My friend asked her if she had a kitty. She said no, that one of her moms was allergic to cats. After that conversation, she was always very open about living with two moms.
