Former NFL star Herschel Walker has made millions in business ventures since he retired in 1997, and he claims to be worth more than $29 million today.
But despite that success, the Republican Senate hopeful and longtime friend of Donald Trump has, for whatever reason, chosen to dramatically inflate his business record, according to a Daily Beast investigation. In doing so, Walker has established a parallel record of demonstrably false claims, many of which appear to bear no resemblance to reality whatsoever.
While Walkers business record has been picked over beforeincluding in an Associated Press review of exaggerated claims of financial successThe Daily Beast has reviewed documents and other records that shine new light on previously unexamined, and particularly egregious, false claims.
Those claims include running the largest minority-owned food company in the United States; owning multiple chicken plants in another state; and starting and owning an upholstery business which was also, apparently, at one point in his telling, the countrys largest minority-owned apparel company.
While the chasm between Walkers vision and reality often appears staggeringand applies not just to business but to multiple dimensions of his personal life as wellhe might be playing fast and loose with the concept of ownership. But its unclear whether he transposed this fanciful structure onto his candidate financial disclosure, which claims a net worth of between $29 million and $65 million, and which, according to a Georgia Public Broadcasting report, merits further scrutiny.

(6,202 posts)Lie about your accomplishments, and inflate your net worth, to give the gullible voters the impression that you're a very successful businessman.
It's not the lying that bothers me so much as the gullible people who believe him.
These people are exactly why Don Jr. is so much against "woke" people.
Woke people can see the bullshit in him.
Example sentence: I was asleep, but then I woke up and realized what lying sacks of shit the Republicans are.

The latest reporting comes via The Daily Beast, which investigated claims that Walker has made about his experience in the private sector, which serves as the primary record on which voters can judge his abilities, since he has no experience in government. According to the investigation, Walker has made false remarks relating to running the largest minority-owned food company in the United States; owning multiple chicken plants in another state; and starting and owning an upholstery business which was also, apparently, at one point in his telling, the countrys largest minority-owned apparel company. Among other things, the upholstery business seemingly doesnt exist, and Walkers food company isnt even the largest Black-owned food company in his own state.
These prevarications are only the latest of many. In March, the The Atlanta Journal-Constitution found that Herschel has made numerous false claims about the size of his companies while making little mention of a string of defaults, settlements and lawsuits alleging that Walker and his businesses owed millions of dollars in unpaid loans. He has regularly boasted in speeches that he graduated in the top 1 percent of his class from the University of Georgia. But it turns out he never graduated at all, since he dropped out to play professional football, and his academic performance before that was nowhere close to the top of his class. In 2020 he peddled what he claimed was an FDA-approved aerosol which will kill any Covid on your body, even though no such treatment exists.
Lying shamelessly about ones business record, personal accomplishments and how to deal with Covid it all seems strikingly familiar, doesnt it? The propensity for mendacity may be part of the connective tissue between Trump and Walker, who have a friendship that dates to when Trump gave Walker a contract extension as then-owner of the United States Football League's New Jersey Generals in 1984. Walker has been a consistent supporter of Trumps political career, and backed Trumps efforts to overturn the 2020 election using disinformation about the results.
