I know that generalizations aren't always appropriate, but I think this does say something about

the "quality" of Trump cultists.

A Mr. Thompson---a January 6th Capitol invader from Ohio---was found guilty today by a jury of the six charges with which he'd been charged as a result of his participation in the terrorist insurrection. His "defense" at trial was that he'd gotten "sucked in" to the criminal assault on our Capitol because he'd been seeking the "respect and approval of President Trump."

Just take a few seconds to try to wrap your head around that---"the respect and approval of Donald Trump"-------------

How lame-brained and morally deficient does one have to be to care one iota whether the poster boy for lying, hypocrisy, arrogance and vulgarity "respects" or "approves" of you?

Mr. Thompson, on the other hand, enjoyed every last minute of his escapade until the hammer dropped today. And way in the back of his small mind he convinced himself that the orange baboon was gonna pardon the whole lot of them. Life goes on.

Maybe now that Trump has not supported him, it might enter into his consciousness that what you say has a bit of truth. My guess is not now--maybe later. maybe.

would that have put more of a target on TFG?

I would venture to say if this guy was acquitted that others being tried for the insurrection would have used the same defense and all of a sudden - it this defense was successful - it would point the finger at TFG and he would be blamed for the inciting of the insurrection.

Just asking the question here.

Could this have been played out differently - if this defense was successful today?
