Turn on the volume. You want this timeline cleanse.Meanwhile, in Missouri, State Representative
@IanMack03007724
gives one of the most powerful speeches I have ever heard.
"Can I tell you, if I were your brother, I would have been afraid to tell you too... because of stuff like this!" Mackey said, referring to the anti-trans bill. "This is what you're focused on, this is the legislation you want to put forward! This is what consumes your time. I would have been afraid to tell you too. I was afraid of people like you... For 18 years I walked around with 'nice' people like you who took me to ball games, who told me how smart I was, and they went to the ballot and voted for crap like this!"

(16,856 posts)I'll say that is probably the best speech I've heard yet through all of this latest bullshit. I'm sure all the GLBT kids in Missouri and places I grew up in Mississippi and other little hellholes all over the country wanted to give this guy a hug! That was awesome!

(10,435 posts)I'd never heard of Ian Mackey before. We need more like him. Every single Democrat needs to speak up exactly like that.

(12 posts)We need a LOT more of this level of passion from Democrats! No more smiles and long-winded oratory that does nothing to excite Democrats about being a Democrat. The level of intensity on the right crushes the left. Its time for that to change BIG TIME!

(63,221 posts)Enough of this half-hearted disagreement. This is the kind of passion we need in Congress.
