Citing mass heroism and valor but making no mention of Russias war in Ukraine, the decree Putin signed Monday awarded the 64th Motorized Infantry Brigade the honorary title of Guards.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov didnt immediately respond to a request for comment.
In his only public comments so far on the alleged atrocities, Putin last week compared them to U.S. attacks on cities like Raqqa in Syria and then called the Bucha claims fake.

(2,290 posts)If you want the world, especially rank and file Russian troops, that the west means business.
Putin has just officially announced who was in charge of what happened in Bucha. Charge the Commanding Officer with war crimes. Every time Putin declares his favor for a unit that is known to have committed war crimes, have the international court indict the commanding officer for war crimes.
If they published a list of the soldiers, add them and their immediate families to sanctions lists and freeze any assets in non-Russian banks.

Hopefully the ICC can use the list of the recipients of this Putin Barbarian Butcher Award to charge war crimes and genocide.

And, don't forget to include Putin in the charges.

Many of those soldiers have been ID'd, and will eventually be hunted down and dealt with.
