Not a new story, but I hadn't heard of this until this afternoon and looked it up.
What a fucker. BTW, I get it that teens (he was 15 at the time) do stupid things, but this isn't normal. The roots of his evil were there.

(182,868 posts)Republican Sen. Josh Hawley, who backed former President Donald Trump's voter-fraud claims following the 2020 election, defended militia members in a column after the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995, when he was 15 years old, The Kansas City Star reported.
The Star reported that following the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building, Hawley wrote a column for his hometown paper, The Lexington News, in which he warned against calling antigovernment militia members domestic terrorists.

(11,744 posts)I said yesterday in another discussion that I spoke to local and state level politicians and was told that my concerns "had to wait" and were too controversial at the time only to have those same politicians come back around election time and tell me how important I was to the victory and for fighting for the policies I wanted.
I also got pulled over by police for basically nothing, for being in a car with 3 other young latino men. So, I have some problems with the government and authority.
Guess what I NEVER DID... I never joined a extra-legal, anti government militia. I never bombed government buildings either. I voted, and continued advocacy.
It is normal to do stupid things when you are 15. At 15 I had some attitudes that would make me ashamed now. Guess what I did...
I learned about the reality of my views, the damage they were causing. I grew the fuck up and expanded my world view and I stopped using words and thinking things that would make me ashamed today.
The problem with Hawley is that he is still that stunted 15 year old boy.
