My question is when McCarthy was kicking Cheney out of her leadership role, why didn’t she release this tape? Did she think it would come in handy later? Liz plays the long game, y’all.

Wow — House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy told Republican colleagues after Jan. 6 that he would say to Trump “it would be my recommendation you should resign” per audio of the call obtained by @jmartNYT and @alexburnsNYT, despite McCarthy’s denial tonight.

EDIT: Maddow had no problem calling him a liar.

15. I saw that during the handoff; she referred to McCarthy's "lies" and made it clear he was lying.

Still, in the interview segment with the NYT reporters during her own show, she used several more benign euphemisms for lying, instead of simply stating the obvious: "Kevin McCarthy lied." One of the reporters even commented about her choice of words. I'm sure she had her reasons.

I’m sure she hasn’t considered it.

Lots of this stuff is evidence of criminality. They can’t just come out and talk about it before the case is ready. That would blow any chance we have of these people facing justice.
