on?
Going over to the financial forums over at Yahoo, there is no doubt the trumpers and republicans are rooting for Musk in this endeavor

If he says that, you should take him at his word
I don't understand why some don't take seriously when someone says they will do something, they don't believe.
The same thing was being bantered about when trump and republicans were trying to over-turn the election. "Oh, it won't happen".
We escaped by shear luck

(36,108 posts)It's obvious you're not a user, otherwise you'd know people get suspended and banned on Twitter all the time
takes it over, dont you think he will get rid of a lot of regulations? Maybe he doesnt have the power to do that. What happened to the poison pill they were talking about earlier this week.
JohnSJ
(92,192 posts)shareholders, all he needs is to squire 50.1% of the shares, poison pill or not. I dont know if he will be able to pull it off. As an investment I dont think it is a very good investment though

There is no regulation that will stop that platform from pushing lies

(92,192 posts)what Musks plans with Twitter are
From CNBC
At the TED2022 conference, Musk spoke in general terms about allowing more content to go unmoderated on the platform in the name of free speech a change that could allow more hate speech and harassment to flourish and didn't address core business concerns such as user growth or advertising revenue.

(36,108 posts)In any case, like most social media forums, you can say virtually anything you want. It's the TOS and content moderation that matters in terms of banning or whatever.

(92,192 posts)secured additional financing from several financial institutions, which makes me suspect, though I have no proof, is to push a political agenda to their advantage. The reason I say that is because as a business venture it is currently losing money. Also, with rising interest rates makes it even a more risky investment I think

(3,333 posts)This is when the Canadian prime minister started cracking down on the Trucker convoy. He removed the tweet soon after, probably after complaints from Tesla board of directors. But this tells you everything you need to know that this megalomaniac is a troll, and he will turn Twitter into the dark web.

(12,656 posts)They want to return to the "good old days" when they could be the loudest voices in the country, doxxing normal people as liberals left and right, and hounding LGBTQ+ teens, rape victims, and sensitive people to suicide in wolf-pack attacks.
They want to feel the rush of a death blow quip where they can show off to their buddies how they destroyed a Lib with a Gish-gallop lie or juvenile comment.
They can't do that on one of their "free speech forum" failures.
Trolls gotta troll. No fun if there's no potential victim using their bridge to nowhere.
And that's what Musk wants to do with Twitter. Turn it into a bridge to nowhere.
