People need to understand how freight is moved crossed border. Most Mexican drivers do not have Visas to enter the US. In fact, only 17% of freight in moved through the border crossing by Mexican drivers for this reason.

When freight crosses the border, it has to clear Mexican customs then US customs. It either goes to a transloading facility near the border and gets moved from one trailer to another or else the trailer itself is dropped. Carriers have drivers specific to getting the trailer cross border, and most of them are US citizens.

Abbott's stunt was designed to be a stunt from the go. He's not going to find drugs and trafficked humans in those freight haulers. It just doesn't happen. An entire cross border system is designed to make sure it doesn't happen. Businesses on both sides of the border depend upon the process being clean and transparent.

If the Republican gave the smallest snot about drugs, guns and people illegally crossing the border, they would not be doing the pointless theatrics they are going. That stupid wall isn't stopping anything. Those extra inspections aren't stopping anything. If anything that silliness takes resources from the places it would actually make a difference.

Which tells me the Republicans WANT the guns, drugs and people illegally crossing the border. It gives them a boogieman and also a way to funnel taxpayer money to the contractors who support them. Total grift.

It baffles me why people can't see it for what it is.
