When in Rome, do as the Romans do...

If the attack on the Capitol was done by Democrats and it was the lives of Republicans that were threatened, how would the Republican Party react?

If Joe Biden had sat in the White House and watched the violence unfold on TV and refused to stop it, despite all the pleadings from Republican leaders, what would Republicans say?

If the shoe was on the other foot, and activists from the Left did the same thing that Trump supporters did on January 6th, how would Republicans act?

Would they immediately impeach? Would Democrats help them convict?

Democrats must play by the same rules as the Republicans. Otherwise, they cannot survive as a Party.

You can bet your bippy that there would be Democrats in jail if they were complicit in attacking our Capitol.

WWRD? What Would Republicans Do?

if you saw the videos and photos, the lives of Republicans were threatened. Andrew Clyde — a GOPer Rep who owns a gun shop and conspires with Marjorie Greene — literally cowered in the corner as trump’s rubes tried to break into the chamber. Pence was scared chitless. At least for a week or so McConnell, Graham, Jordan, etc., were visibly shaken.

That is one reason I’m not so sure GOPers that were at Capitol on Jan 6th expected — or participated — in anything like that.

People tend to inexplicably conflate the J6 rally and the attack on the Capitol.

They're separate and distinct acts.

One was not only legal, but was permitted. The other was obviously illegal.

You can't say a person who helped organize J6 rally is responsible for the Capitol attack UNLESS you have evidence.

The DoJ, the FBI in particular have said that the attack was spontaneous, with little coordination beyond small groups of Proud Boys or 3%'ers or whatever.

The attempts by the Trump administration to use some sort of legal "Jiu Jitsu", legal "mumbo jumbo" to stop or delay certification, again are a separate issue.

There were however, several seditious speches delivered from the podium, including ones by trump, Brooks, Guiliani and others.

Which reminds me of that old WWII movie where the bombs are exploding and everybody's running, and Tony Curtis tells his submarine captain (Cary Grant), "there's profit in chaos", as he goes forth to see what he can steal from the docks.

That's what we're dealing with --a seemingly endless supply of grifters, con-artists, pranksters, fame-seekers, and other "agents of chaos" attempting to swoop up some easy cash.

And with so many loopholes in the dikes of Capitalism, we seem incapable of plugging them fast enough. That's the worry.

media, phone calls, e-mails, show coordination between members of Congress Trump's White House and various trump boot lickers. "Small groups" of 3%ers met and armed themselves to the teeth in hotel rooms to deploy when called. Spontaneous my ass.

there would've been chainlink pens set up by the Nat'l Guard to hold all those tazed and beaten insurrectionists who rioted. The dead bodies of course would be hauled away.

There would've been no leisurely walk or uber back to their hotes for dinner and a good night's rest before taking their flights back home on J7.
