Re Twitter, Elon Musk

It's downright hilarious watching right wingers convince themselves that liberals or left leaning people hate Elon Musk. I would venture to say that most liberals on Twitter are not super observers of politics like I would be. They like Elon Musk in the same way they like the Kardashians. There's always something fascinating about the rich and famous that they can't keep their eyes off of.

They seem to have somehow convince themselves that Elon Musk is a champion of the right, Trump will get his Twitter account back, and how the right will take over woke liberal Twitter. They are cheering on a guy who doesn't give a single fuck about their right wing bullshit.

Elon Musk is for Elon Musk. Elon Musk wants the world to exist according to his vision. He doesn't care about Democrats or Republicans, and these petty political squabbles between the Parties. He cares about Elon Musk. He's not buying Twitter to "own the libs." Elon Musk couldn't give any less of a shit about "owning the libs."

Elon Musk isn't buying Twiter so that Donald Trump and Marjorie Taylor Greene can get their Twitter accounts back so that they can back-to-back dunk on "the libs." Elon Musk is buying Twitter for Elon Musk's benefit.

I don't believe Elon Musk cares about who has a Twitter, and that's the issue. He just doesn't give a fuck. He doesn't care if Trump says crazy shit. He doesn't care what stupid stuff is being shared. He doesn't care about Marjorie Taylor Greene's Jewish space lasers. Elon Musk wants people to be free to be their stupid, crazy, idiotic, conspiracy theorist, paranoid, nonsensical selves on Twitter if they so choose.

He's not trying to protect their nonexistent free speech rights on Twitter or protect their right wing bullshit. However, if they want to peddle their bullshit and conspiracies, he won't stop them. He doesn't care enough to stop them. He doesn't care enough to monitor content on the site.

He's doing it because he has a wild wild west vision of how Twitter should be run and he wants to implement that vision. It's not right wing view or a left wing view. It's a selfish Elon Musk view.

In my experience, people with significant wealth who can literally do almost anything tend to think they should be above "petty" restrictions. People with wealth have that luxury of fighting restrictions or limits they don't like in a way that regular people don't (a luxury like being able to buy a company for $43 billion to fight content moderation). I don't believe his goal is not to advance some massive right wing agenda. His goal is purely selfish. Elon Musk thinks he should not be restricted or moderated in any way possible. He thinks he should be able to do anything or pursue any venture with no limits or watchdogs. That's the way he moves through the world and that's how he will likely operate Twitter. As a result, that may mean Trump getting his Twitter back and no content moderation.

Let them believe their own bullshit about how Elon Musk will turn "woke" Twitter into a conservative bastion of RWNJ voices. Let them cheer at this nothing of a "win." Elon Musk doesn't give a fuck about any of that. It's a social media platform will most likely operate largely the same as it has been before to the end user.

*reads DU*

I mean, kind of easy to see why they think that.

Elon is a champion of Elon. An oligarchic shitheel of a magnitude that I've actively started wondering if he's a Bond villain.

But it doesn't make all this not funny.

3. DU is a very small percentage of liberals on Twitter

Also, many liberals on Twitter aren't hard political observers like we are on DU.

Also, the right wing asshole who believe that likely only look at the liberals who are frequent political commenters and posters on Twitter. They look at a handful of liberals and assume that represents a lot of liberals, when it doesn't. That's where I was going with that.

. . .especially given the probable "rumbles" between Twitter and "Truth Social". And also considering "Truth Social" recently moved offices to Sarasota.

Musk will let anti-democracy Russian propaganda flourish. He has already done that with Starlink.
Remember what the un-American Nazi posted with regards to Canadian Prime Minister. Remember what the un-American pos posted about our American President.

Remember how he treated his workers in 2020. There's a list of things against that pos.

7. The problem is that liberals will probably leave Twitter.

Leaving the place to be flooded with the right wing Fox News echo chamber.

This happened to the Discussionist that DU had awhile ago. With the current right wing cult there is no discussion about anything because their opinions are simply parroted dogma. There is no thinking or considering consequences or issues at all.

Twitter may become one more massive echo chamber for the cult that wants to destroy America.

8. I could be wrong but I don't see a lot of liberals leaving Twitter for the same reason conservatives

don't leave Twitter.

Conservatives bitched and complained about woke and liberal Twitter and yet they never left. MTG will complain all day that Twitter is too woke but she still wants her Twitter account. There are not many options for a Twitter alternative. It would be difficult to create one, even one for liberals.
