General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI have posted this time and time again. Mark Meadows is going to sing like a jail house rat.
Meadows was basically the command center for the attempted coup. He was involved in everything and he knows everything.
Meadows is still facing a contempt charge, he is facing voter fraud charges and he is involved in the Georgia investigation. He was the one who placed the call for Trump to the SOS of Georgia.
Meadows was involved with the fake electors, he was involved with every dam thing. Meadows could be looking at serious jail time and there is no way in hell that spineless back stabbing coward will want to do time. He will make a deal, he will sing like a canary in order to save his ass.
Once the open hearings start the pressure on meadows will increase. I believe he will become a big target of the DOJ and they will nail his ass. It's going to take time because this is the largest most sensitive investigation in our history.
In my opinion, if the DOJ can tie the oath keepers, proud boys, who have been charged with seditious conspiracy to people in the Whitehouse or connected to the Whitehouse, that would be a game changer. Meadows may also know about that.
We know the conspiracy between the oath keepers, proud boys and Trumps people took place. But you have to prove it beyond reasonable doubt. A lot of people have already spilled their guts and many more will follow as the open hearings and the DOJ investigation intensify. Mark Meadows is at the top of the list and he going to turn on people in order to save his ass.
Fuck Trump.

(9,998 posts)Let me know when he's actually being held accountable. Until then, he's not going to be singing a show tune, let alone about anything of substance.

(4,913 posts)He turned those text messages over very quickly, then somebody convinced him to stop. I wonder who?
Once he is facing jail time, he will sing.

(4,913 posts)Justice moves slow in America, it eventually catches up to you. People who delay usually commit more crimes as they delay, people like Trump.

(4,913 posts)We don't know what evidence they have given to the DOJ.

(54,770 posts)are squealing about talking to trump, Meadows, MTG, etc., about where to enter the Capitol.
BTW: Would love for such evidence to arise. But so far, it's just hopeful speculation.

(24,305 posts)evidence has been found by the DoJ.
If I had to guess, they are setting things up so that in the end they won't have to make deals with people like Meadows because they will already know and can prove anything he will have to say because they have already heard it from other sources and have solid evidence. That would be a tall order, but I hope that's how they are working it.
Hoyt
(54,770 posts)And, I'd do a little dance.
I don't think that evidence exists, but I'm sure people will still be trying to find it decades from now.
Mr.Bill
(24,305 posts)Garland seems to be running a pretty leak-proof operation so far.
Now whether he does anything about it is another story.
Hoyt
(54,770 posts)don't think there is much -- if anything -- of him conspiring with Proud Boyz, etc. Wouldn't put it past trump, but I think the Select Committee will be quick to report anything like that, IF they find anything like that.
Mr.Bill
(24,305 posts)Not the select committee. They have been somewhat forthcoming about what they are investigating. The DoJ has not.
Hoyt
(54,770 posts)money they would have indicted trump by now.
Mr.Bill
(24,305 posts)I'm also worried that there is a contingent in the DoJ that firmly believes a president, either current or former should never be charged with a crime. We saw some of that with the Mueller investigation.
Hoyt
(54,770 posts)conspired, colluded, cooperated with Ruskies. Mueller wimped out.
I believe if they had evidence of trump conspiring with Proud Boyz, that would be enough to convince 65% or more of Americans that he should be indicated.
I do agree with you that DOJ -- and Biden -- believe that unless they have something big and clear they shouldn't indict trump. I feel the same way. Most of the stuff we have heard so far wouldn't convince 50% of Americans that it is anything more than a partisan attempt.
This poll is months old, and admittedly the survey question sucked, but I think it is pretty close to correct as to how most Amercians -- not political junkies like us -- feel:
Mr.Bill
(24,305 posts)Mueller report, and until I do, I will reserve my opinion about it's content. The only opinion I currently have is there is something there they don't want us to see. Could be genuinely classified national security things, or could be something else.

(54,770 posts)The decision is only a partial victory for BuzzFeed. Left redacted are portions of the report dealing with those who are not public figures, with the court determining that the outlet did not make a sufficient case for disclosing the highly stigmatizing information given the potential reputational harm faced by those whose identities would be revealed.
Of the individuals whose privacy interests may be jeopardized by disclosure of the requested information, only one is a public official. The remaining individuals are private citizens who served on a presidential campaign, the court wrote.

(9,481 posts)All he has to do is drag things out to 2024 while his Moscow Mitch and the GOP do everything within their power to undermine the economy (and Biden's re-election). Then, assuming the GOP wins/steals the presidency in 2024, the case is either dropped or he gets a pardon, depending on how successful his delaying tactics are.

(5,844 posts)And since none of us know what the J6 committee has and what the DOJ has, anyone who emphatically states either unbridled optimist predictions or bottomless doom and gloom predictions is full of shit. It's only your opinion.
You don't know.
I don't know.
No one here knows.
So sit back and see what happens.
And think about what you will do if it goes in a direction you don't like. Are you gonna sit and post endless whiny posts or are you going to join marches and protests, call your senators, and write letters?
Novara
(5,844 posts)... would sell their Momma if it would keep them from jail. I won't be surprised if any single one of them - or all of them - throw each other under the bus to cut a deal once they know they're going down. But see, that's the key: they have to be sure that not talking and facing consequences is worse than giving each other up. I hope there's enough evidence to make it so.
I mean, they have to know there's no loyalty amongst this group pof venal pieces of shit. So why should they go to prison to protect any of them? Do they really trust that one of the others won't squeal on them?
What I worry about is the only skill the orange shitstain has: criming without consequences. The only art he has is being able to get other people to commit his crimes without explicitly stating it. "Do me a favor, though," and "we just need to find 11000 votes." Neither sentence is explicit even though the meaning is clear. Is it enough for a conviction?
