is not easy even when I try & I am trying.
They seem to OWN all topics.
The maze begins and ends with them.
sad.

(45,021 posts)Especially things like Ukraine. But there are other sources. Including DU.
The discussion part of Twitter never appealed, it always devolves to shit.

(3,730 posts)If the maze begins and ends with Twitter, then obviously Twitter doesn't point to reality but only to self-projection.
The only topic ought to be 'truth', not opinion or pithy but obvious snark.
As of this morning I am avoiding all "Tweet of the (day, afternoon, evening, etc)", Tweet from (familiar, repeating names oft seen here)" posts.
I rarely learn anything edifying from Tweets unless they are long enough and professional enough to require a thread reader.
Edit: Then there are those posts that don't tell in the subject line but open to no more than Tweet.

(9,120 posts)Type in the topic you want news about. Look at the list of articles by time. Pick sources you generally trust.
I only open the actual Twitter website maybe once a week.
Dependence is a breakable thing.

Bad way to read the news, actually!

(86,005 posts)...Twitter owns the forum, but not the posters.
Your voice there, like here, Facebook, or Instagram, is still your voice. Besides, YOU control what you view by who you follow.

Sure wish there was a legal way to clip tweets to DU. After all, they aren't long. I hope that Egoless Elon allows 10,000 word tweets (for his pronouncements, and hence, for all.)
That will kill the platform instantly.
Elon! I dare you to do it!

Ill be very happy if it goes away.

(12,444 posts)I believe Twitter used on DU is tacky.....not actual discussion ...This is a Discussion Board not a link hub ...
I also do not have a Twitter account .

(51,308 posts)This uproar about it here is kinda funny, and deeply ironic.

(33,207 posts)And have been darn good at it over the last several years. Thanks for that, kpete.
Why didnt I ever twit first person some may ask? Well, to be frank, the whole Twitter platform was too disjointed for me to make any sense of from day one. I started to try during the deep water horizon disaster and could never get a coherent picture of what was going on and I gave it up.
So, I appreciate those who were able to translate the information into a format I could process.

Maybe the shareholders will vote no. Stranger things have happened.
