Blinken said, And I firmly disagree with that proposition. It is the fundamental right of these countries to choose their own destiny.
Paul argued that the countries that were attacked were part of the Soviet Union since the 1920s, and Blinken responded, That does not give Russia the right to attack them.
The words that were coming out of Rand Pauls mouth during the hearing were Russian talking points. Russian state media and Putin have attempted to justify the invasion of Ukraine because Ukraine used to be a part of the Soviet Union.

If it's so important that Ukraine and Georgia were part of the Soviet Union, then why should it just be Russia with that seat, that doesn't sound very fair, right?
OK, since the USSR is still shaping world affairs, I propose that the former USSR countries share the USSR's permanent Security Council seat on a rotating basis. Russia gets a month, Armenia gets a month, Azerbaijan gets a month, Estonia gets a month, Georgia gets a month, Ukraine gets a month, and so on.

OP
I reckon Rand Paul is cool with Middle Eastern countries attacking Israel, following his logic.

And Russia has a right to invade Alaska. Mexico can take Texas. And Spain can have Florida.

(17,019 posts)1. We were part of Britain so I guess Rand would be cool
with Britain taking back her property? Or Spain doing the same? WTAF is wrong with him. As others have said, I get Rands neighbor, I dont approve but I absolutely understand.
