New York TimesNow Mr. Abbott is weighing whether to invoke actual war powers to seize much broader state authority on the border. He could do so, advocates inside and outside his administration argue, by officially declaring an invasion to comply with a clause in the U.S. Constitution that says states cannot engage in war except when actually invaded.
Top lawyers for Mr. Abbott and for the Texas attorney general, Ken Paxton, met this month to debate the move, which would put the state in a head-on collision with the federal government by allowing state police to arrest and deport migrants, according to two people familiar with the discussions. Mr. Abbott says he remains open to the approach, but he has expressed concern about unintended consequences.
If we do use this strategy, it could expose law enforcement in the state of Texas to being prosecuted, Mr. Abbott said during a recent news conference. But, he added: Is it something were looking into? Yes.

(16,903 posts)Majority of migrants are escaping their home countries, that are turning into dictatorships, there are no jobs, and gangs roam the streets, looting, abducting their children, there is rape, etc.
They deserve a better life. Seeking asylum here is LEGAL.

(15,338 posts)I would make sure that the Dipshit knows EVERY FUCKING MILITARY BASE that pours billions of taxpayer money into Tex-Ass would be closed immediately.
Also, no federal support for natural disasters, or federal subsidies for companies doing business in Tex-Ass.
They want to be their own fucked up little dictatorship? Don't fucking threaten me with a good time.
This should be the standard for every state passing these ALEC laws.
If members of our military are not able to exercise their rights, like voting, or healthcare, then they should not be required to serve in a state that denies them those rights.
It's time to fucking rip the bandage off.
Pack up the current Supreme Court and move them to some racist, inbred, Dumbfuckistan Murika shithole like Tex-Ass or OKKK-lahoma where they can rule to their evil hearts content.
It's past time to make a clean break from those Dipshits.
Look, it's going to happen eventually. The great separation has been evident since the advent of hate-radio and Faux News.
Might as well get it over with.
They fucking elected Donnie Dipshit! There is no going back once you've gone there.

Meanwhile, large parts of "blue" states like Minnesota are very conservative.
Stereotypes are dumb and almost always wrong, even when they are asserted by "our" side.
