Thoughts

We humans are at the top of the food chain, so the only actual need we have to kill is for food or defense. After all, these are the reasons for which virtually all other life forms on this planet kill.

Yet, we humans kill for countless reasons. Why is that? Tigers don’t kill for sport. Squirrels don’t kill birds for more tree space. Elephants don’t crush small creatures for pleasure.

Think about it for a moment. Why do human beings kill? Profit, hatred, greed, jealousy, rage, sport and insanity are a few reasons that come to mind. And perhaps the worst reasons of all are because of racism and differing religious, or political ideologies. My guess is that the vast majority of us have never intentionally killed anything except roaches.

However …

I believe that the United States is currently in an era in which many may be willing to, (and want to), kill others due to their religious and/or political ideologies, and mostly, because of their color.

Further, I believe that the vast majority of those currently willing to do so are the most extremist members of the Republican Party. Many of them have bought into immense lies and, what can only be called “insane” beliefs. And, as we saw on January 6th, 2021, many are willing to kill due to their own ignorance and the shitload of hateful propaganda they’ve bought into.

Having said all this, I do have a point. If the Republican Party wins/steals both houses of congress and the presidency over the next two years, then we must get used to the idea that anyone can be killed at anytime, and at any place, and for any reason. Why do I believe this? Because that’s a core principle of fascism. And fascism has become the core principle of the Republican Party.

A little more than six months from today is election day. If you’ve understood what I’ve said here, then you understand that this election and the next one may be the last we’ll ever see in America.

So where do we go from here? What do we do? It seems to me that our leaders don’t have the will or “legal reasons” to avoid or stop the oncoming Republican tsunami. Which means it’s up to us to do something about it.

And, yeah. I know. What are we supposed to do about it? Countless thousands of Germans wondered the same thing back in the late 1930’s. Seems they failed in figuring out an answer.

Let’s hope we can do better. If not, we’re stuck with the alternative.

History tells us most will be compliant to survive, except there's Ukraine. So there is hope.
