I haven't been inside a Waffle House in a few years. I love Waffle House. The synchronization between the cook and the waitresses is a wonder to behold. I went inside this week and had two eggs over light with bacon and hash browns scattered covered and smothered. It was glorious.

(13,496 posts)and I was a little anxious about the crowds there. That was a little much, even for me. But we had fun. We tried to eat outside as much as possible. But when it's hot out, you want air-conditioned breaks.
Glad we went, but if you're super covid cautious, I might avoid disney for a bit longer.

(145,314 posts)My son has a DVC membership. I will be getting my second booster next week so that I will be fully boosted when they come back. My youngest child still lives with me.
During the December trip I wore my mask even in places where it was not required. We had a good number of test kids with us but did not use them.
We had a good time in December. My son is a foodie and so we ate at some of nicer places at WDW including Yachtsman, Chef deFrance, California Grill and my favorite Art Smiths.

(13,496 posts)Glad you had fun. (No more mask mandate in WDW when we went, and the spring break crowds were PRETTY HUGE!)

Dorian Gray
(13,496 posts)We did the Millennium Falcon one, though, which was so much fun! Next time, we'll do Rise of the Resistance.
I was solo with my kid, and navigating the fast passes (or whatever they're called now) was more complicated than I feared! But we did get on some fun rides. Her favorite is still Splash Mountain!

(3,642 posts)Our last time dining out was March 11, 2020, to be precise. We went to the city building downtown to conduct some business. Afterward, we went to our favorite Mexican restaurant where we sat in booths next to other unmasked couples and enjoyed our lunch.
Seems like a foreign concept from a lifetime ago.

(3,414 posts)This was the summer of 2021. My grandson had a concert with his orchestra at the Pioneer Park Pavilion, outdoor seating. Our whole WA family was there for the concert, and afterwards we went to Giorgio's for dinner on the patio. Great music and great Greek food, I was in HEAVEN!

(34,074 posts)Pandemic is not a country-by-country status, and he "clarified" that COVID is still a pandemic a day or two after he misspoke.
That said, I ate in ni restaurants with outdoor seating throughout the pandemic. We are eating in indoor restaurants when the local transmission is

(5,164 posts)I have not eaten in any restaurants and wont ever again most likely. I hardly ever went to restaurants for several years pre pandemic due to health and dietary issues. The last time I ate in a real restaurant I was very ill by 5 am with vomiting and diarrhea.
I have been so too many times by them. Not bringing food on time, bringing me eggs benedict on lettuce 1 minute after it was already on an English muffin when I had requested lettuce, I had sent it back, and using shoddy and fake gf practices which glutened me, food poisoned me or gave me noro virus. Non of this seems to happen if you order food in or make your own. I remember eating at a taco bell with an ex years ago when I was starting ti have more issues, instant runs and there was no toilet, only a road stop. I cant believe now I ever ate that crap. There is only one truly gf restaurant near me and they were not following policies or gave me a virus.
So I really had a distrust of them for years now and now it is the perfect way to get infected with covid. Most way over charge and it is an unpleasant experience most of the time. Fortunately in my earlier life I have eaten in many fabulous restaurants all over the world, I do miss it, mostly I miss just being able to eat like a normal person. Im quite happy to prepare my own food and pick it out myself. I would never go back to it again because of all the health issues even if I trusted them.

not that much of a fan on "dining in" to begin with (perhaps partially due to lack of finances) but i can tell you that once we locked down (march friday the 13th 2020) that was it. hadn't eaten inside a restaurant for at least a couple months before that. and i haven't since then.
i do drive thu fast food (come home & nuke it for 30 seconds)
i ordered denny's breakfast once and walked inside to pick up my order.
i miss not being able to go into a restaurant and have someone wait on me.
i miss not being able to go out to dinner with my daughter and son in law once in awhile. they went out once around valentines day this year -- to a place that had those igloos for a single party with the heaters.
pandemic ain't over till it's over. and i've got a little under five yr old grandkid that i don't want to be passing covid to so yeah, no indoor dining for me in the foreseeable future.

(31,392 posts)all in Chapel Hill, NC about half a dozen times since last summer. Chapel Hill is in Orange County, which has led the state in people vaccinated and had among the lowest numbers of cases and hospitalizations. I only ate inside when numbers were low.
Last night I had dinner with my two sons and their partners to celebrate my youngest son's birthday. We ate outside on the patio of one of his favorite restaurants--where I'd never eaten-- and it was delightful. All tables were quite far apart. They were also doing a brisk business inside.

(13,496 posts)But all outdoors. After vaccination, we went indoors at times, but kept my daughter outdoors until her vaccines were complete. November 2021... with a break for omicron. After Omicron we went back first week of Feb when numbers were down.
Still eat indoors sometimes.
Try to avoid bustly restaurants.
(Have treated it this way for awhile, and we have never gotten covid. So a lot of covid is really luck.)

(102,292 posts)time for even pickup in more than two years. It was quite startling to see they had retrofitted the entire front desk that adjoins the kitchen in plexiglass so that they had zero exposure to the dining and pick-up area. Even a bank deposit box-like drawer they'd push out for your credit card or cash. Smart, they are, not to have taken this down while most others have. Planning for the future, I guess.

(1,139 posts)Cannot tell the date. Maybe a year ago? We were vaxxed and with vaxxed friends. We ate on the patio. I forget if it was the next day or the day after, we started feeling badly. We were both so sick we did not want to move. Both took home tests, which were negative. Boyfriend was not allowed back to work without an official test. That was negative, too. Maybe we just caught a really bad flu, not sure, but we have not gone out to eat again.
I have a concussion and have been told not to drive. I also have a doctors note not to cook unsupervised. (Final straw for dr was when I sent him photos of burns and blisters). I have Door Dash. More expensive but presumably the insurance of the guy who ran into me will pay it all.
Go out to eat again? Not likely. I dont know what we got that one time, but that was enough to deter us. My guy retires next year, and I want him around, to enjoy his company. The pandemic is not over.
