(54,770 posts)say anything popular about Putin. Don't listen to Carlson, etc., and I'm not using trump's BS as proxy for everyone else.

(424 posts)So 74 million of them vote for tRump. Their favorite news channel and favorite host promote the lie and racism.
In 2014 the NRA was pushing straight propaganda on Crimea, prior to that the NRA was darkening Obama photos to run on the cover of their propaganda rag.
Almost every Repuke US Senator voted NOT to impeach tRump, TWICE
Almost every Repuke House Member continues to support tRump.
So your argument is don't listen to fucking racist asshole they love to watch, don't judge them by voting and supporting tRump. Until someone shows me Putin Posters or Russian Flags in their house then we don't have solid proof.
They lost the rebel flag, they now use the MAGAt flag, some fucking thing, same racism, fascism, being represented.
They have earned absolutely ZERO benefit of the doubt.
So the question is, why do you suggest they have earned any benefit of the doubt or respect?

(424 posts)A cop out, when they take responsibility for 1/6, then they start getting a benefit of the doubt.

(13,186 posts)Your poll shows that we either overestimate Putin's support in the Republican Party or we're possibly just being snarky, imo. Some of the people in the poll cited in the above link might have just been being snarky too. Who knows?
The fact that Putin isn't really popular among Republicans and that the Republican clown maestro is a long-time Putin buddy suggests to me that Putin could be carefully used as a legitimate wedge issue. By "careful," I don't mean accusing all Republicans of being pro-Putin when in polite company. I mean asking the big group of Republicans if they're starting to get tired of having to explain their clown contingent.

(10,849 posts)The poster said "Trump is on Russia's side along with most of the GOP."
My reply:
The House vote for military lend-lease bill to speed Ukraine aid was passed 417-10
I don't think 10 votes counts as "most of the GOP"

(54,770 posts)but still there is nothing to support the OP.
I see trump flags where I live and Ukrainian flags, but haven't seen any Russian flags. If the rubeneck her were for Russia, they'd fly that flag, right next to their confederate rag.

(54,027 posts)Pre-invasion it might be up in the 60% range
Before Crimea, it was probably in the '80s
But these people have eyes. I imagine even Tucker Carlson's viewers are falling in love with Zolenskyy
