I have brothers and sisters who are in the Evangelical Christian Cult. I grew up with it.

In fact, they twist it into an explanation that its actually LOVE. And in fact, they love gay people probably more than you or I do, because they care for not only their life here, but for their survival after life. Because as we all know....God only accepts hetros into heaven.

They will always answer with "We don't hate them, we hate the sin". So I try and tell them that to say to someone that you hate their life, their partnerships, their friends, who they decide they love, etc.. then its pretty much telling them you hate them. But its WOOOOOOOOOSH right over their heads.

They are not the haters, they can never be that because God, and their pastor, tell them they are the ones who love. Its everyone else that is a hater.

the cognitive dissonance.

Sit in a pew a few times in one of their "crutches" and you'll be able to spout the playbook automatically.

Angels don't reproduce; they are essentially sexless!
It's only in the 3D world that humans, and most other animals, need 2 sexes to reproduce.
So, from God's point of view, the whole concern we have for human sexuality to be heterosexual as opposed to homosexual, or bisexual is essentially pointless.
God deals in love, not body functions.
And God isn't fooled by people who say things like hate the sin, not the sinner, or that they don't hate, everyone else does. Those statements are done to fool people, including the ones who say them.
Effectively, we have a whole class of christians who stand opposed to the things Jesus taught, while deluding themselves into believing they are "oh so holy".
It would be nice if they were full of love, but they're only full of shit.

officially, starting May 1

Our senior minister announced this in worship today.

The new Global Methodist denomination will essentially take with it the congregations and conferences which continually defeated any progressive agenda, particularly involving LGBTQ issues. This means a lot of the haters will be going away

or personal philosophy for that matter....just leave people the hell alone. They're happy. They're not hurting anyone. Just leave them alone. As long as my neighbor isn't building an ICBM in their garage, threatening to launch on Morocco, I don't give two shits what they do. It would be a much more peaceful world if others did the same.

My favorite comeback is...Isn't your omnipotent, omnipresent, all powerful God able to deal with "teh gays" on his own? Pretty weak ass god if he needs YOUR help.

Anyway, it's all bunk without a shred of evidence. Why people believe these stories is beyond my understanding.

Yeah, we get it. Not every religious person hates LGBTQ+ individuals, but the overwhelming majority of the opposition to their being treated as full and equal members of our society comes from religious people and their respective organizations.
