I'm not pro-murdering babies.
I'm pro-Becky who found out at her 20 week anatomy scan that the infant she had been so excited to bring into this world had developed without life sustaining organs.
I'm pro-Susan who was sexually assaulted on her way home from work, only to come to the horrific realization that her assailant planted his seed in her when she got a positive pregnancy test result a month later.
I'm pro-Theresa who hemorrhaged due to a placental abruption, causing her parents, spouse, and children to have to make the impossible decision on whether to save her or her unborn child.
I'm pro-little Cathy who had her innocence ripped away from her by someone she should have been able to trust and her 11 year old body isn't mature enough to bear the consequence of that betrayal.
I'm pro-Melissa who's working two jobs just to make ends meet and has to choose between bringing another child into poverty or feeding the children she already has because her spouse walked out on her.
I'm pro-Brittany who realizes that she is in no way financially, emotionally, or physically able to raise a child.
I'm pro-Emily who went through IVF, ending up with SIX viable implanted eggs requiring selective reduction in order to ensure the safety of her and a SAFE amount of fetuses.
I'm pro-Christina who doesn't want to be a mother, but birth control methods sometimes fail.
I'm pro-Jessica who is FINALLY getting the strength to get away from her physically abusive spouse only to find out that she is carrying the monster's child.
I'm pro-Vanessa who went into her confirmation appointment after YEARS of trying to conceive only to hear silence where there should be a heartbeat.
I'm pro-Lindsay who lost her virginity in her sophomore year with a broken condom and now has to choose whether to be a teenage mom or just a teenager.
I'm pro-Courtney who just found out she's already 13 weeks along, but the egg never made it out of her fallopian tube so either she terminates the pregnancy or risks dying from internal bleeding.
You can argue and say that I'm pro-choice all you want, but the truth is:
I'm pro-life.
Their lives.
Women's lives.
You don't get to pick and choose which scenarios should be accepted.
Women's rights are meant to protect ALL women, regardless of their situation!

It may help those who don't have all the facts that this is the reality.

(23,290 posts)I wanted to share it here so that all DUers would have this for use in other discussions.
This is indeed the reality. A mother of three small children who has a pregnancy that could KILL her and leave those children ORPHANED should NOT have to carry that pregnancy to term.
And as Sen. Rev. Warnock said (I have to paraphrase here), there is no room in a mother's womb for a man and the United States Government (or any subdivision thereof).

(7,694 posts)heres a statement from author Margaret Atwood cobbled from an interview she gave back in 2017. Please set this to needlepoint and hang it in your living room:
Im waiting for the first lawsuit. Im waiting, you know, for the lawsuit in which the family of the dead woman sues the state...And Im also waiting for a lawsuit that says if you force me to have children I cannot afford, you should pay for the whole process. They should pay for my prenatal care. They should pay for my, otherwise, very expensive delivery. You should pay for my health insurance. You should pay for the upkeep of this child after it is born. Thats where the concern seems to cut off with these people. Once you take your first breath, its out the window with you. And, it is really a form of slavery to force women to have children that they cannot afford and then to say that they have to raise them...People have to decide what kind of world they want to live in. Are we in favor of forced childbirth? Because thats the world that we are going to get if we shut down reproductive rights. Right to life is one way of putting it. Forced childbirth is another way.

The pro-COVID party might actually be pro-death but won't admit it.

(23,290 posts)They're willing to kill women who have dangerous pregnancies.
They're willing to kill people who commit crimes, through the death penalty.
They willing to pass "stand your ground" laws to enable killing anyone who raises a hand against them.
I could go on, but you get the idea.

(11,109 posts)of their reason for wanting an abortion. Nevertheless, I am unsure that many of the anti-choice crowd realize the effect of the no-exceptions bills being passed. Woman will die needlessly and the men in state legislatures (with a lot of help from men and Aunt Lydia on the Supreme Court) will have killed them.

(3,733 posts)It's not my business nor my lookout, why anyone chooses to terminate a pregnancy.
Their reasons do not need to be explained to me, or anybody.
They do not have to meet some justification threshold.
I'm pro-anybody that decides what is in their own best interest.

(22,443 posts)These stories are vivid, but they also sustain the narrative that abortions have to be worthy by being emotionally devastating. Sometimes people dont want to be pregnant, and thats okay.
I'm pro-abortion, because abortion is a great way for people who don't want to be pregnant to not be pregnant anymore. This meme also erases Black people and other nonwhite people, as well as trans people.

(54,443 posts)She terminated the pregnancy, tried again and now has a healthy infant. She is pro-life.
Those who would jail her for terminating what would have been a life-threatening non-pregnancy are pro-death. Keeping it might have killed her. Terminating it gave the child who was subsequently born a chance to live. Anti-abortionists who choose for themselves are people with whom I have no dispute. Anti-abortionists who would impose their will on anyone else are cruel at best, sanctimonious murderers at worst.
