Be careful what you wish for, you might just get it.
The Republicans worked hard to get a super majority on the Supreme Court. No one worked harder than Mitch McConnell.
Republicans used Donald Trump and the Federalist Society to stack the present Court. Trump could have cared less who was on the Court - he wanted the political rewards. McConnell saw it as his legacy.
Now, we see the dangers of such radical manipulation. Against the will of the people and the Constitution, and all for a political agenda and a political Party, we have regressed into a unsustainable position.
Democrats were willing to co-exist with a conservative majority, because there were some small self-controls with a 5-4 majority. That disappeared once they attained their 6-3 super majority.
The difference between a super progressive majority and a super regressive majority is the difference between going forward and going backward. One is based on higher ideals and the other is based on political and religious dogma.

There has to be some semblance of a democracy. The radical agenda is not acceptable.

(43,311 posts)but elections are slow and we really need to flip a lot. Don't get me wrong, I see what you're saying. Life is so fast-paced today compared to 1789. Radical rule can ten times the damage in the same amount of time.

All that squawking about "activist judges" fits the pattern.
In this way their radicalism is protected from critical thought, and has a perceived legitimacy among the believers.
I'm frightened by the flood of hype about "critical race theory", and whatever is being conjured up there.
Trumpsky and Co. purposefully unlocked Pandora's box.

(111,110 posts)..however weak or flawed it might be. They have confidence in their propaganda network.
They'd be lost without it.
Case in point - McConnell trying to tell reporters asking about his key role in assembling the court that will reverse Roe v. Wade what they should really be asking him about... the fact that the draft decision was (gasp) leaked.
Without the brainwashed backers, they can't win a contest of ideas.
