We asked Republican senators for evidence that 'the left' leaked the Supreme Court abortion opinion.

They didn't have any.

When Politico first published a leaked Supreme Court draft opinion that would overturn Roe v. Wade on Monday night, Republican Sen. Josh Hawley of Missouri was the first US senator to publicly weigh in, focusing on the extraordinary breach in court norms.

"The left continues its assault on the Supreme Court with an unprecedented breach of confidentiality, clearly meant to intimidate," he tweeted at 9:05 pm, within an hour of the story's publication. "The Justices mustn't give in to this attempt to corrupt the process. Stay strong."

He followed up shortly thereafter with praise for Associate Justice Samuel Alito's draft opinion, which he called "voluminously researched, tightly argued, and morally powerful."

-snip-

But no concrete evidence has emerged in the public domain that points towards the left — or the right, for that matter — as the source of the leak.

From what I have heard, there is no current statute that was violated. Just regulations of the court. Where was the great harm here? In legal proceedings, you have the privacy of anyone who is under Investigaton. In government agencies you have the prospect of national security issues. The only thing you could have here is the justices not being subjected to outside pressure, but that is already mitigated by the fact that they have a lifetime appointment.

They have long started blatantly made up crap lies and the msm just reports it.

Responsible journalists don't print unconfirmed nonsense just because someone said it.

Responsible journalists don't repeatedly go back to the same source that lied to them multiple times.

Responsible journalists recognize that the story and scandal is the fact that they lied.

Responsible journalists would have hounded Donnie after the whole Obama birth certificate nonsense was shown to be total crap. I mean, it always was, but for him to lie about his "investigators" finding any even relevant, let alone problematic? The media should have hounded him forever, how can anyone trust you after you made that crap up?

Similarly for the endless scandal crap.

They keep doing this because there's never a price to pay.

One of the many reasons the msm sucks.

even if there is proof it was a RW judge or clerk or somebody else the only thing their base will remember (and many others) is that the "Left" leaked the thing.

The lie is always remembered longer than the debunk.
