A superyacht believed to be owned by Russian president Vladimir Putin was frozen by Italian authorities Friday before the ship could set sail from port.
The $700 million, 459-foot Scheherazade, worth approximately $700 million, had been under investigation since March, when Italian authorities boarded the ship as part of the European Unions sanctions against Russian oligarchs in response to the invasion of Ukraine.

(21 posts)Just find a spot that needs a new artificial reef, prepare it and sink it.
It's not a military ship, not an act of war.
Should do the same with all of the Russian oligarch yachts, that will put billions of rubles of pressure on putin.

I think it was 2003 when I started but I'm not positive, but it was early days for the site.
Glad to finally be aboard !

Welcome to DU.

(12,484 posts)The yacht has not been transferred to ownership of the US Gov't.
It will take Courts to do that.
The vessel is being HELD at this moment...
Courts will decide what is done with them.
Ironically... now the US Gov't must spend millions to keep these yachts in tip top shape.
