Sorry, not sorry...'Putin's Superyacht' Grabbed by Italian Authorities Before It Could Sail Away

A superyacht believed to be owned by Russian president Vladimir Putin was “frozen” by Italian authorities Friday before the ship could set sail from port.

The $700 million, 459-foot Scheherazade, worth approximately $700 million, had been under investigation since March, when Italian authorities boarded the ship as part of the European Union’s sanctions against Russian oligarchs in response to the invasion of Ukraine.

Putin has plenty of money to build more of them, but he doesn't want the kind of work done in Russia. He wants Italian or Dutch craftsmen to do it, and they are currently "unavailable."

6. Reef material ?

Just find a spot that needs a new artificial reef, prepare it and sink it.

It's not a military ship, not an act of war.

Should do the same with all of the Russian oligarch yachts, that will put billions of rubles of pressure on putin.

I've been an avid reader, but this was the first thing I've felt motivated enough to post !

I think it was 2003 when I started but I'm not positive, but it was early days for the site.

Glad to finally be aboard !

It would be a shame to scuttle a truly beautiful boat. I was thinking along the lines of sea training for Ukraine youth.

Welcome to DU.

Because of Putin, there is need for a hospital ship; let him provide one, even if its against his will.

The yacht has not been transferred to ownership of the US Gov't.

It will take Courts to do that.

The vessel is being HELD at this moment...

Courts will decide what is done with them.

Ironically... now the US Gov't must spend millions to keep these yachts in tip top shape.
