With the roomful of young Chinese being lectured by an older Chinese fellow. The screen at the bottom interprets what he says about the "stimulus", the "healthcare debacle", the huge debt that is owned by the Chinese. "Now they work for us", he says. And they all laugh...
I think that is a very effective Republican ad. Because it never mentions either candidate or either Party.

(17,865 posts)in my opinion. It needs a response, and I have been trying to think of one. We are slowly adopting a more European model with healthcare and the safety net, but pointing towards Europe and its problems may not be the way to go.

(3,526 posts)...1: that ad can easily be tied to Romney and his business dealings with China to include closing plants in the US and laying off US workers (Sensata).
2: The stimulus saved the US automotive industry despite Romney's stated desire to let the industry go bankrupt.
And finally, 3: "Obamacare" has been proven to work and has been protected by the US courts.

(111,110 posts)About the deficit? President Obama has record deficits of over a trillion dollars every year he has been in office, almost more than all the other Presidents combined? Couple that with the above ad and I think it is very effective.

(3,526 posts)...But, I know who got us into two Middle Eastern wars that led to our financial collapse. He was the same guy left the mess in the President's lap on his way out the door.
I also know who kept us out of another Great Depression. He was the same guy who got us out of one war, and will get us out of the other war.
Did you believe the President was going to correct in less than four years what Bush screwed up in eight?
Hey, if you want to think the ads are effective and not very easily rebutted, you're welcome to them.
If you want to vote for Romney, that's your business, too.

(111,110 posts)10%? 25% More?
You seem to think enough know about the source to vote likewise?
pwb
(11,287 posts)Percent wise between you and I, 100%. I don't think you bought it, but apparently you think others will buy it. Yes some low information voters will buy the message, is that what you want? We who are informed voters consider the source and dismiss the message. PWB out.

(17,651 posts)May be off a few months but I think it showed its head around the 2010 when the teabaggers won and too many of US stayed home.
Nasty bit of business that ad and no, I have yet to see a counter to it.
Since they seem to have dusted it off and rolled it out to use again, a SuperPAC counter would be a really good idea.

(5,963 posts)The debt simply doesn't work that way. So it's difficult to run a counter ad. Kinda like trying to run a counter ad to the moon hoax conspiracy. It's hard to address that much BS in a thirty second sound bite.

(111,110 posts)So it is very real to a lot of people, in my opinion.

(17,651 posts)I only replied to this post because I tied it to the ass kicking the Dems got in 2010 and have seen it before a while ago and am now seeing it again.
Low info rules in some parts of the country.......unfortunately.
Why would they bring this ad back now if it had no effect at all?
Then again, we're 1 week before the GE, majority voters are dug in no matter what and won't be swayed one way or the other and probably none of it matters at all.
