It's about BLOOD LIBEL. Below is a link to a post by the Institute of Policy Studies and is a good, succinct explanation about its history - over 900 years old. It's steeped in anti-Semitism and it's what QAnon is based on. Putin has always used charges of pedophilia to attack enemies; it dehumanizes them and tends to tarnish those accused forever. The links between the "alt-right" (aka Nazi sympathizers), PizzaGate and Russia are clear. The GOP, Trumpism and Putinism are in many ways indistinguishable.
Everything the right screams about is focused on their unholy crusade to "protect the children" and it's why they're trying to destroy the public school system. Whether it's bathroom bills or anti-trans/Don't Say Gay legislation, anti-abortion, anti-CRT, or any other way they purport to want to save the children we know it's bullshit because they propose nothing to truly support the well-being of all children, certainly nothing that involves economic support.
Christian Dominionism, white supremacy, nationalism and patriarchy are a toxic brew, and they all use charges of evildoers harming children as their tactic to dehumanize anyone who gets in their way.
What we're seeing isn't new but, like everything nowadays, it's greatly amplified -- especially with entire media networks and a political party using this heinous tactic -- and spreads like wildfire. EDIT TO ADD: I absolutely agree projection is at play. I wanted to impress that there's a longstanding strategy behind it, and I do believe projection has always been embedded in this strategy.

Nearly 900 years ago, William of Norwich was found dead outside the English town of Norwich. The 12-year-old boy was an apprentice tanner from a family connected to the local cathedral. His death was an unsolved mystery, and the authorities didnt charge anyone with murder.
But five years after the discovery of the body, a bishop defending a man accused of killing a Jewish moneylender in Norwich made the extraordinary claim that the victim had been responsible for killing young William. The bishop argued that the Jewish community of Norwich had chosen the boy for the purposes of ritual murder, an outrageous defense that successfully deflected attention from the murderer of the moneylender.
And thus was born the blood libel. According to this early conspiracy theory, Jews killed children to extract their blood for use in religious rituals or even such mundane tasks as baking matzoh. It has been a particularly durable myth, appearing throughout the Middle Ages, during the Nazi period, and even among modern anti-Semites.

(22,920 posts)Their violent worldview needs to be shunned by the vast majority of people, and when fringe extremists rise up again - which is inevitable- not be tolerated or excused. Too many tried to ignore the hatred in our midst and excuse it and dismiss it as merely political differences. It's MUCH bigger than that.

(22,920 posts)and they're irrational. Nothing we say sinks in and they'll never see the hypocrisy. I swear, so many of the politicians and media types who have cynically supported their unhinged base, while not truly believing the same things, seem to have talked themselves into agreeing with them now. If you tell a lie often enough....
It's a huge cult. Completely irrational.

(4,890 posts)I'm sort of haunted by the juxtaposition of all the pedophilia/grooming stuff from the right/Qults, and the Supreme Court draft referring to the lack of supply of babies.
Can't put my finger on why this disturbs me so.

(22,920 posts)That is a nightmarish thought, not without merit imo, given the projection this cult uses as discussed above. They do see children as a commodity on so many different levels.
