Now they're banning abortion pills? And fining violators up to $50k???

Has the GOP completely lost their fucking minds????

Tennessee governor signs bill strictly regulating medication abortions

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Tennessee will soon strictly regulate the dispensing of abortion pills, including imposing harsh penalties on doctors who violate them, under legislation recently signed into law by Republican Gov. Bill Lee.

The measure, which Lee signed on Thursday, will go into effect Jan. 1, 2023. Once enacted, a medical clinician will be required to be physically present when abortion pills are administered to a patient even though federal regulations now allow mail delivery nationwide.

The issue has become even more important as the U.S. Supreme Court seems poised to overturn the landmark 1973 Roe v. Wade decision as suggested through a recently leaked draft opinion. Notably, Tennessee is among the 13 states with a so-called trigger law that would make abortion illegal should Roe be overturned.

To date, 19 states have placed strict restrictions on accessing medication abortion. Under the Tennessee version, delivery of abortion pills by mail would be outlawed and anyone who wanted to use abortion pills would be required to visit a doctor in advance and then return to pick up the pills.

The drugs may be dispensed only by qualified physicians — which would include barring pharmacists from doing so. Violators would face a Class E felony and up to a $50,000 fine.

human nature than liberals. They tend to believe that good behaviors need to be rewarded and bad discouraged or society will become increasingly depraved and ultimately fail. So for all their prating about freedom and small government, a majority want their social standards imposed on all of society by government.

What we're seeing from those driving this is more extreme than typical conservatives would want on their own, but they wouldn't be allowed to, or expect to be able to, ignore them once in effect.

Republicans should quit beating around the bush and announce the party's new #1 platform proposal is to make sex illegal unless you're married and trying to conceive.

This will, of course, include masturbation. After all, it's not in the Constitution, right?

Here's the theme song for the 2024 RNC Convention.....

Not subject to same laws as USPS.
It’s getting to be Underground Railroad time. Women WILL end problem pregnancies, they’ll just have to be careful and secretive about it. The real tragedies will be women who discover fetal abnormalities, normally much later than the pills can work. That’s where abortion funds and secret flights to sanctuary states will come in. Ectopic pregnancy when every minute counts? Too bad, just go die.
Words cannot express how much I hate Republicans.

I presume this is a rhetorical question, because the obvious answer is not yes, but HELL,YES !!

Of course, that raises the question of whether they had any minds to lose in the first place. Everyone is welcome to form their own conclusions about that.

Took the words right outta my mouth!

I have been yelling "They have lost their fucking minds!!!!!" daily the past couple months here at home. And my howl could have awoken the dead when I read this on the front page of the Philly Inquirer this morning (they finally put on the front page of today's print edition) -

Doug Mastriano embodies a Christian nationalist movement as he runs for governor: ‘We have the power of God’

Mastriano is now a front-runner for the GOP nomination for governor of Pennsylvania. He’s also become the epitome of a resurgent movement of Christian nationalism.

The Shofar Army took the stage, nine white men and one woman draped in fringed Jewish prayer shawls, each clutching a ram’s horn — the instrument traditionally sounded on the Jewish high holidays. “Blow the trumpet in Zion! Sound the alarm on the holy mountain!” bellowed the leader. “The day of the Lord is here!” He blew his shofar three times, and the crowd responded as instructed with “Arise, oh Lord, let your enemies be scattered.” The rest of the Shofar Army blew theirs in unison.

So began a two-day, far-right Christian gathering last month called “Patriots Arise for God and Country.” The event, at a Gettysburg hotel, was organized by Francine and Allen Fosdick, self-described prophets who have promoted the QAnon conspiracy theory that falsely accuses Democrats of being pedophiles who control the country. Speakers included current and former aides to Donald Trump, pastors, and politicians. But perhaps the main event came around 4:30 p.m. that Saturday.

“Last year, it did seem like God abandoned many of us. I felt I did not hear his voice,” Pennsylvania State Sen. Doug Mastriano told the crowd. The Franklin County Republican described the “persecution and oppression” endured by him and others who have challenged the legitimacy of the 2020 election. He said he couldn’t believe his country “had become such a dark evil place.”

But, Mastriano said, the faithful persevered. “We have the power of God with us,” he said. “We have Jesus Christ that we’re serving here. He’s guiding and directing our steps.” It was classic Mastriano — how God told him to run for governor and how he was the candidate who could save the state from its descent into evil.
