SCOTUS and Roe
As I understand, Alito's leaked draft was essentially his opinionated argument against Roe. Many are speculating the others will agree in some manner. But who knows for certain? Regarding Gorsuch, Kavanaugh and Barrett, they will have to stick with stare decisis (precedent) or admit to being less than forthright (lying) under oath during the confirmation hearings.
Those three know what they said, know Roe is supported by a majority of the country and know the present expectation of Roe being overturned has created a big stink. And they know they aren't supposed to render decisions based on personal convictions. Barrett was quoted as saying:
"Judges can't just wake up one day and say I have an agenda I like guns, I hate guns, I like abortion, I hate abortion and walk in like a royal queen and impose their will on the world..."
I'm not familiar with details of Roe or the pending cases that would overturn the precedent but it seems such an action would exceed the SCOTUS purview.
