Who knew there were so many ignorant or insane voters

The vast majority of Republican voters can't seem to grasp that, in casting a vote for a Republican, they are voting to raise their own "misery index," and lower their own financial well being.

About 74 million of them voted for Trump in 2020. Yet, if they didn't see back then how badly the Republicans were screwing America, how have they not seen it since?

Yeah, I've heard the explanations: "Cult," "Own the libs," "God is on our side," etc. But really, how incredibly dense do you have to be before you realize that you're fucking your own family, yourself, and all those who believe as you do?

I know that many (most?) of them can't spell "fascism." But imagine the betrayal they'll feel when they find that they too are "owned" and are nothing more than the property of the wealthy and powerful.

Unlike the majority of Americans who can find any numbers of reasons not to vote. This is the reason we live a country with Minority Rule

California has a population of about 40 million. Wyoming has a population of about a dozen people. Yet they both have two Senators.

As for the House, gerrymandering provides the remainder of the minority rule

I certainly don't see Republicans giving up their power. They've demonstrated
that the Rule of Law means nothing. Of course, they will expect blue states to honor any "laws" they pass.

and the price for that huge mistake is the loss of America.

I really hate to sound so negative, but we're going to need some kind of "miracle," or "great awakening" to hold onto our country. Many think GOTV will do it. Well, it won't, in too many states where Republicans are counting and recounting the votes until they come out "right."

Wish I had the answer of how to stop the barbarians.

The smartest thing the Republican party ever did was to prey on the easily-led, the ill-informed, and the downright stupid.

That is their "base" - voters who don't have the intellectual wherewithal to question anything, nor the common sense to recognize when they're being fucked.

It protects you from Democrats!

Or maybe just call it anything you think will work, knowing how easily-led they are. Use the knuckledraggers’ talking points. You’ll sound like you’re “trustable” as Kevin McCarthy might say. And they won’t be able to tell you just rode in on your own little Trojan horse.

Seriously. I’m 100% for sneaking and subterfuge at this point. Honesty hasn’t worked.

will find themselves screwed under authoritarian control. Is that smart? Willing to give up democracy to preserve white male power only to hand over that power?

Meanwhile, caught up in this power struggle we ignore the plight of the planet. Putin and Trump may not only end democracy, they'll end the planet for humankind.

If we were all united it would take all we've got to save the planet and we can't even begin.

I know what you mean, but I don't see any evidence of smart in the equation.

Yes, a lot of them are not very smart.

But a good proportion ARE.

RW Conservative Movement Cult brainwashing has gone on for decades, since the 1950's, and really took wing with the advent of widespread cable news shows like 'Fair & Balanced' Fox Propaganda in the 1990's, and Rush's vitriolic nationally syndicated radio show.

These people as a class have been undergoing this intense mind control from RW Radio and TV blasting in their ears for years and decades 24/7.

THAT is almost impossible to overcome - they are programmed not to listen to non-cult members. Not to listen to any other reality except what the cult deems is reality.

Ain't happening in this generation for sure - only by silencing the RW propaganda machine will we have a chance of living among mostly sane people in the future.

Run for an office. They come out in droves. You will learn to recognize them as you look over the people assembled to hear your words of wisdom....you think.
HA!
As you deliver your stump speech, you can read their reactions on their faces. You make mental notes of what is hitting home and what is falling flat.

I highly recommend running for an office. It is an education in democracy. I discovered early on the candidates with a significant other had an advantage. Someone is out there listening and will tell you how you are doing. They hear crowd noises and observations you don't. They will debrief you later. I came to consider being single a disadvantage.

My biggest discovery was the undecided voter is a myth.

Yeah, no. It's clear their racism and hate is their driving force. They've been given permission to hate and that's exactly what drives them. They feel vindicated because a "president" hates the same people they do.

Appeal to people's hate and you have them in your pocket forever.

Sun May 8, 2022, 05:20 PM
May 2022

The meeting drew about 200 people to vote on our electric co-op's bylaws. When my neighbor and I walked in, a gospel quartet was singing and it was pretty good. But then the quartet struck up "Proud to be American." Everyone stood up like the national anthem was being played, raised their arms up in the air and swayed back and forth with their eyes closed. My neighbor and I stayed seated. A man next to my neighbor leaned toward her and pointed out that HE had voted for tfg.

We were there out of civic "duty" -- but it turned into an uncomfortable experience. Speakers all blamed the current administration for inflation and difficulties in getting repairs done to our electric grid. Genuinely felt like my neighbor and I were among pod people from another planet.
