I don't want to talk about abortion; I want to talk about insurrection

It seems to me that the "draft opinion" is just the right shouting "squirrel" to watch progressives react like they'd react, with outrage.

Outrage is not the Democratic Party theme, Progress which is inevitable and can't be rolled back is what we should be working towards.

It seems like we cede ground to the minority when we argue on their turf.

Human rights are hugely important, but I recognize when I'm being trolled and rolled.

These people just like to watch the world burn to keep the enormously rich and powerful over us all. We're not these people.

We are people who see a problem and try to solve it, even if it takes centuries.

I am of the Star Trek generation, which sees the world's current problems as insignificant compared to taking a futuristic view.

I leave this mini rant with a song:

I'm guessing you're a white straight male, not worried about any of YOUR rights being revoked?

BTW, the Committee hearings don't start until next month, so post all you want about the insurrection, we won't be getting much new info until then.

The closing of clinics which has left some states with only one clinic and even no clinics.

This has caused greater hardships on women by limiting and even cutting off access to healthcare.

It has forced women to travel hundreds of miles - which takes money and other resources.

It has forced women to take time off work - which means spending money you're not even making.

Many women have to pay for additional childcare or take their children with them - which means paying out more money and again, that's money they aren't earning because they had to take time off work.

If they have to bring the children along, that means more money needed for the trip.

It's stupid to think everyone gets sick leave or even vacation time.

And many women in low paying jobs risk being fired for taking time off.

That squirrel has - 2. Enacted onerous laws which are nothing but barriers to women seeking healthcare. Those onerous laws have caused clinics to close. Those onerous laws are not based on solid medical evidence.

Refer back to Number 1.

Incomplete list of onerous laws.

1. Increased waiting time means more money, more time off work.

2. Restricting insurance coverage - means more money needed.

3. Restrictive time bans means, some as little as 6 weeks, makes it all but impossible to get needed healthcare.

4. Meet ambulatory surgical center standards - means clinics close.

5. Doctors must have admitting privileges - means clinics close.

That "Squirrel" has been very busy while you're calling it a distraction. The "Squirrel" thanks you for that.

Now that "Squirrel" is telling people point blank what it plans to do, but you want us to see it as a distraction from other things you find more important.

My rights are important.

I am capable of talking about my rights, the rights of others, and the insurrection. As well as climate change, the upcoming elections, and anything and everything else.

You won't save democracy by downplaying the importance of the rights of others.

Not 50 years. A century.

Here’s some self-fulfilling prophecies from the days before reliable contraception:

My dear daughter, I know you’re just as smart as a whip and you look so cute when you’re thinking — but your brother is the one who is going to college because you’ll just get married and have babies. As your daddy I love you, but I know these things.

Sorry, miss, we can’t hire you for this job with a future. A man with a family needs it.

Sorry, ma’am, we know you actually trained Mr. Jones, but he’s getting this promotion. You and your husband will be starting a family soon, I’m sure.

Congratulations ma’am! You’re in the family way! Here’s your termination papers.

What’s that rumor I hear around the office, missy? You’re with child? Here’s your termination papers. (You slut)

My mother was incapable of handling this. I had 2 younger brothers, one had just graduated from High School and the other was still un High School. I was just finishing my second year in college. Everything was a mess, everything.

I called my Uncle to see if there was a job opening in my Dad's store, I had always done jobs there working the printing machines etc. and he said sure, he could always use someone. I started that week and I trained the other two men. After 2 months they knew how to work the machinery and I was let go by my Uncle. Come to find out I trained them on 1/2 the salary they were getting and as soon as they knew what to do I was let go. He KNEW the bad condition we were in and I asked him how he could do that and his reply....someday you will meet a nice man and have babies, you should not be working here training men to do a mans job. Go back to school and get married and for Gods Sake join the church, that is where the nice men are.

My Uncle did that after the death of his brother when we needed me to work until everything financial was sorted out. Not one of those things he mentioned were on my mind then or even before then. My mind was on my degree and getting a performance degree, also not usually a woman's degree. Never made it that far.

On top of your father's death, that was just like rubbing salt in the wounds. What an awful person! Even though I am sure it was just his conditioning, he did you a great disservice and it affected your life in a profoundly negative way. He told you what your place was. I am just glad you didn't believe him.

What do you call the $10,000 bounty in Texas? What do you call the proposed laws to make sure women who might be pregnant don’t leave the several states who’ve outlawed abortion?

You think this is a joke? You think this is unimportant? We are dealing with dangerous religious fanatics right here in America. And they mean it. They are already gunning for contraceptives.

Do you care what happens to LGBTQ people’s rights? Let me tell you, the same religious fanatics care very deeply — boy howdy do they care. And if you’re a Democrat or other decent human being, you won’t like the results.

Grew up in front of the television, believing a TV show was reality? I grew up watching Star Trek, but I knew fiction from reality, maybe because I'm female. Men grabbing women against their will, until suddenly, the women all succumbed if it was the leading man? I guess you never noticed unwanted pregnancy on those Star Trek shows... Wonder why. Because it wasn't fuckin reality!

Fuck this shit. Maybe ask the admins for your own group to Not Discuss Abortion. Then, you can live in Star Trek reality all you want, without degrading women further on DU.

Seriously, what the fuck is going on around here!?! Is the plan to have less women posting? I'm about there. I'm so done with this nonsense!
