Not support affordable childcare
Not support family leave
Divert funds from public schools
Not support free school lunch programs
Not support equal pay
Not support affordable medical care
Since the SCOTUS draft opinion leaked, Ive read articles of Republican legislators pushing bills banning or putting impractical restrictions on abortion and also banning contraception, and yet, they are offering no support.

This will feed the lucrative 'infant domestic market."

(2,399 posts)Currently, there are over 400,000 kids in foster care, and 114,000 available for adoption.
We NEED more kids to onto those two lists.
Maybe orphanages...?...workhouses..?

(17,006 posts)where people who dont live in poverty can get abortions it wont solve the issue of a lack of Gerber Babies. That is why McTurtle said the repukes would go for a national ban on abortion.

(63,221 posts)birth defects, babies who were undernourished or came from mothers who were physically abused, minority babies? This is a lot more complicated than they think it is, but then again we all know how short-sighted and simplistic they are.

(43,190 posts)At each life stage they make money off you. They refuse to provide contraception or abortion, then sell your babies for adoption. You work to support you and buy their products. They deregulate so they can pollute freely and run their businesses profitably. You wear out fast, but they don't care. You gave birth to your replacement. No Medicare so you die younger. Cheaper for them!

Right now businesses need the cheap labor that comes across the border. Once we have a steady stream of domestic babies, we can afford to actually close the border.
The last one who wants the border closed are the small businesses that rely on undocumented, untaxed, under the table workers who do not cost them anything.
If you want the border crisis to stop, fine th e shit out of companies and people (Nannies and landscapers) who take advantage of their legal status to under pay them and the cost(social security, unemployment, medical, retirement) that go along with the work force.

(6,017 posts)Make everyone except those in power too poor to be able to focus on much beyond getting through each day.
Give the masses plenty of life stressors and things they have to struggle against. Corporations are more than willing to help, and a surprising number of top capitalists also seem to at least talk the talk of doomsday Christians.
Then offer them the afterlife, where nothing is uncomfortable. And in the meantime, offer them services from school to food assistance...through churches.
A name I was taught for it recently is, "Feudal Capitalism" and it fits very nicely.

I just posted in another thread that I've never wanted to punch someone in the face so badly as I did her when she made those remarks about dropping babies off at the firehouse.

(8,334 posts)From Politico
During oral arguments, Barrett, who is herself an adoptive mother, suggested that the existence of safe-haven laws and adoption in general rendered moot the pro-choice argument that abortion access protects women from "forced motherhood." Rather, she continued, "the choice, more focused, would be between, say, the ability to get an abortion at 23 weeks, or the state requiring the woman to go 15, 16 weeks more and then terminate parental rights at the conclusion."
