"Heres the thing, guys.
It doesnt matter.
It doesnt matter when life begins.
It doesnt matter whether a fetus is a human being or not.
That entire argument is a red herring, a distraction, a subjective and unwinnable argument that could not matter less.
It doesnt matter whether were talking about a fertilized egg, or a fetus, or a baby, or a five year old, or a Nobel Prize winning paediatric oncologist.
NOBODY has the right to use your body, against your will, even to save their life, or the life of another person.
Thats it.
Thats the argument.
You cannot be forced to donate blood, or marrow, or organs, even though thousands die every year, on waiting lists.
They cannot even harvest your organs after your death without your explicit, written, pre-mortem permission.
Denying women the right to abortion means we have less bodily autonomy than a corpse."

(634 posts)Someone posted this a day or two ago and I took a screenshot of it and read it until I committed it to memory. I never thought about the whole forcing people to give up an organ to save a life argument. Makes a lot of sense to me. Id like to read arguments against this from the other side if anyone knows any.

(24,303 posts)every child killed in a school shooting was also viable. What actions are republicans taking to do something about that?

(6,017 posts)They are simply revoking that an abortion is a constitutional right.
They know full well what that will lead to, and they are okay with it. They prefer it. They want it.
But they've pretty much left any logical arguments aside now that they don't need to find agreement with anyone else to get what they want.

(2,195 posts)This has been the biggest wedge issue that the GOP has ever had. It is political gold for them. It is the gift that keeps on giving, time and time again, even though their own economic and social policies are largely responsible for influencing the decisions that women make.
This may have been floated as a canary in a coal mine, but I'm not so sure that the GOP will give up their golden goose.
