Sen. Joe Manchin says hes still interested in passing major pieces of President Joe Bidens agenda but sources close to the West Virginia senator say Democrats may be making a big mistake by waiting for him to lay out precisely what hed support, NBC News reports.
Manchin has expressed interest in passing a bill through the filibuster-proof reconciliation process that would raise taxes, reduce the deficit, cut prescription drug costs, and fund energy and climate measures, even though some Democrats fear the West Virginia centrist is running out the clock.

(16,412 posts)Manchin would be holding the football (of course), and Chuck Schumer would be trying to kick it.

(24,300 posts)Of course, President Biden may think differently. I would be a fool not to trust Biden's judgement.

(15,619 posts)No more bullshit games; Manchin can write a bill, and see if he can get the votes, not the other way around.

(8,332 posts)Unlike many here, I would and do always opt for some good over nothing. There are parts of the Biden agenda he supports, wrap them up in a bill and pass them. If we are lucky enough to hold the House and Pick up PA and WI, we can pass more, if not, we got as much as we could. But nothing, to me nothing is the worst choice ever.
Manchin has expressed interest in passing a bill through the filibuster-proof reconciliation process that would raise taxes, reduce the deficit, cut prescription drug costs, and fund energy and climate measures. This is better than nothing. Are we better off with or with out a bill, clearly with. Is it the bill I want, nope, but I dont have a vote in the senate and the guy who does, he may be able to get some of this done.

(9,074 posts)When you're both at the store and you ask,
"Hey, you want ice cream?"
"Yeah, I want ice cream!"
"Ok, what flavor?"
"Oh, I don't care. You pick."
"Ok, this one?"
"Noooo, that's not really my thing."
"Ok, what about this one?"
"I just had that last week."
"Right. Well what about this?"
"I don't know. Just get what you want."
"Ok, why don't you just pick?"
"No, no. It's fine. I don't care. Whatever you want!"
And then you end up on Dateline.
