froze while pressuring Zelenskyy, his ex-Pentagon chief says

Former Defense secretary Mark Esper claims that he warned President Donald Trump that withholding military aid to Ukraine was both illegal and that it would further weaken Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's government.

"I ran through a series of arguments that failed time and time again: deterrence of Russian aggression; showing Moscow our commitment to our partners; and aiding a democracy under siege," Esper writes in Politico Magazine in an adapted excerpt from his forthcoming book "A Sacred Oath: Memoirs of a Secretary of Defense During Extraordinary Times." "I then pivoted to the fact that 'Congress appropriated the funding, and we don't really have a choice' to not release it. 'It is the law, Mr. President,' I said bluntly."

Esper writes that Trump was unmoved by the suggestion that he was breaking the law.

"With his arms folded in front of him as he leaned forward into his desk, he was silent. He didn't seem to care."

Standard position for this creep.

Trump slams former Pentagon chief Mark Esper, doesn’t deny allegations in book

Former President Donald Trump hit back at Mark Esper, his onetime secretary of defense, as a “lightweight” and Republican in name only but did not deny bombshell allegations that he wanted to shoot racial justice protesters or fire missiles at drug targets in Mexico.

The ex-president accused Esper of keeping quiet about Trump’s more outlandish suggestions because he was an eager-to-please rubber stamp.

“Mark Esper was a stiff who was desperate not to lose his job. He would do anything I wanted, that’s why I called him ‘Yesper,’” Trump said in a statement to CBS News, which aired an interview Sunday with Esper on “60 Minutes.”

“He was a lightweight and figurehead, and I realized it very early on,” Trump added.

... were in a hot war w/Russia and he wanted to blackmail Zelenskyy into inventing "dirt" on
Joe Biden and his son. This was "the perfect phone call that got Trump impeached and every
single Republican senator except for Romney know about this and went along with "it."

BTW fuck you Esper you should have told America about this back when Trump was selling out America to Vlad Putin
and now you are talking in order to sell your book and you should have been screaming when Trump fired you in
order to get military backing of his attempted coup after he lost the 2020 election.

In 2022 we should hang these votes around every single republican senator or congressperson's neck who voted to
help Putin, hurt Ukraine, and protect Trump's attempted blackmail of Ukraine.
