Will the death penalty for abortion be a public hanging?

Just asking. After all, people who want to ban abortion, impose the death penalty on all involved, (the doctor? the woman?), would surely want to make an example of those who committed this "crime."

Yes, I know. All of this sounds ridiculous. Today. But try telling me that if/when the first public execution is performed by the "Christian" fascists who are trying to acquire the power to do whatever they want to do to all the rest of us.

But who knows. Given today's insanity, many of them may actually enjoy flames or rocks.

They are fine with 1 million Americans dying a horrible death from Covid.

And 6 yr olds shot to ribbons while sitting in their first grade class.

And I'm sure still are even if they stay loyal to their team, as they have been.

But don't leave aside what the reactions of REAL people (not the uniformly inhuman monsters often portrayed here) would be to such atrocities in their communities, especially threatening people they identify with.

As long as politicians have to worry even a little about being able to stay in power, smarter ones would say no.

"No woman can kill her own child without being a servant of satan. The bible tells 'thou shall not suffer a witch to live'." Their suggested punishment at the time was public burning or drowning. Now I feel fairly certain, they would rather sell lottery tickets for a chance to be on the firing squad.
Nothing has changed they will not be happy with anything less than a full-on crusade.

They're going to tie weights to their ankles and throw them off a high dive in a local public swimming pool.

Scene from Gillead.

Until you realize that the people who are trying to take over this country are crazy by anyone's definition.

9. Public execution was too much for Americans in 1936. Rainey Bethea was hanged in Owensboro, KY

in the last public execution in the US on August 14, 1936, with an estimated 20,000 people in attendance, in a ghoulish carnival-like atmosphere. Bethea was a black man who had confessed to a rape and murder. Kentucky was the last state to ban public executions in (in 1938), to a large extent because of the horror of Bethea's execution.

Headlines from around the country screamed news. From Chicago -- "Death Makes a Holiday: 20,000 Revel Over Hanging." From Evansville, Ind. -- "Ghostly Carnival Precedes Hanging." From Louisville -- "'Did You Ever See a Hanging?' 'I Did,' Everyone in this Kentucky Throng can now Boast." Newspapers described vendors selling hot dogs, popcorn and drinks.

"Every bar was packed to the doors. Down the main street tipsy merrymakers rollicked all night. 'Hanging parties' were held in many a home," Time magazine reported in an Aug. 24, 1936, article.

Whether today's Republicans are as human as Americans were in the previous century or will revive public executions remains to be seen.
