is getting stymied by Ukraine serving as a proxy force of the US, his arch enemy from thousands of miles away and he can't do anything about it.

He has to know by now that if he actually was fighting just the entirety of the US military, even without the rest of NATO, he would be smashed in short order.

It has to be crazying to him that his army is actually third-rate, he's not winning in Ukraine and there's no face-saving solution as a pull-out or call for a negotiated cease fire would both be humiliating to him and the nation.
